Haley can go home tomorrow night. The Lady Gaga song was horrible as was "House of the Rising Sun" how the judges thought it was the best of the night boggles my mind. her attitude turns me off.

Amen, preach it sister! We looked at one another and said, "Maybe the audio isn't working in the theater..."

BTW: It drives me crazy the the Animals get credit for resutrecting House of the Rising Sun, when Dylan did it year before them.

And if anybody should get credit it should be the dude who traveled round the country and discovered it and recorded it. I remeber if it was on Wikipedia, or where I read it but apparently it was almost a forgoten traveling type song till he recorded it.

The Animals version was certainly the most well known and successful. And there were many other versions of the song well before Dylan did it.

Wow, Jennasis, you really hit it on the head about what BUGS me about Lauren.. especially tonight, she looked like a beauty contestant..

LAUREN: (Unchained Melody) An overdone song for sure, but maybe she can spice it up? Why is she dressed like Farrah Fawcett? Her problem is all in her eyes...so unexpressive. They always look the same...frozen...lifeless. But she CAN sing. I dunno. It just left me cold.

I think she just doesn't have life experience. She's put on stage and performs. She is definitely talented but there is just something missing. Not as missing as Pia or Thea, just something dead. And she's a teenager who looks like a soccer mom! I can't get past that!!

I thought he was going home WEEKS ago... this guy is teflon!!

I checked the AI site and he has LOTS of very motivated fans. I was really surprised. No surprise, SOMEONE is voting for him.

This week it was Haley, last week it was James. I'm trying to stay open but like most of us, we like what we like and hate what we hate and sometimes it skews our opinion. I know it skews MINE!!

1st Song

James - didn't like it, and it wasnt because it was rock, I have loved all of James' rock songs this season but did not feel this one at all

Jacob - he NEEDS to go! this song was entirely wrong for him

Lauren - Carrie underwood is just one artist no one should attempt, didn't like the performance at all

Scotty - so happy he finally did a song I knew LOVED IT, seriously, he has kenny chesney's stage skills with george strait vocals

Haley - thought it was her best performance, and I LOVED the song itself, honestly, I am going to buy it on itunes


2nd Song

James - better then his first, but still not his best

Jacob - I couldn't understand half of the lyrics he seriously needs to go, another bad song choice

Lauren - AMAZING! I have not been a huge Lauren fan but she blew me away! I thought it was her best performance so far

Scotty - of course another amazing one for Scotty! he made me melt more then he did when he sang I Cross My Heart, I did not think that was possible!

Haley - it was good, but I thought her first was still alittle better and I would not say best of the night like the judges did, but still very good


I think Jacob should go home but honestly would not be surprised to see Haley go even though she does not deserve it at all!

Glad to hear that! I keep reading so many people on here who don't like Scotty just because they can't stand country, they can't just realize that he is very talented no matter if you like the music or not.

I despise country music but LOVE Randy Travis, Elvis, Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline is my favorite singer of all time.

I don't like Scotty very much like how you probably don't like Jacob. I cannot relate to him. He's a goofy looking kid singing a song like a grown man. It was unique at first but now it's just uncomfortable ... for ME. Everyone has their druthers. It's neither right or wrong, it's just preference.

As for the season overall, I think it's been amazing talent wise. I still think Season 7 was the best talent ever on the show but this year could be second.

But Scotty no matter what you like or dislike has talent. If looking at him bothers you then close your eyes and listen, his vocals are outta this world. And he's only 17!!!

I'm happy to see Haley have a great rebound from the beating she took on the first song. She looked kind of shell-shocked at the judges' comments. After all, they love pretty much everything. I was worried it would affect her second song. But she knocked it out of the park! And best of all, she got some praise from some of her biggest critics on the Dis!

Still, I'll be surprised if she's not in the bottom 2, along with Jacob. I can't even guess who else it would be.

Regarding Haley: She's not some unseasoned little bird, like Lauren.

There was a big article about her in the chicago trib today. Turns out the girl has been performing on stage since she was a toddler. She's been in every jazz choir, school choir her schools offered. From grade up through College. She travled with many of them and even performed at Montreaux Jazz & Pop Festival in France. Which, if any of you don't know, is not something people who suck get to play.

She knows what House of the Rising sun is about. There's no way she didn't when she sang it. She sang it gritty the way the song is originally sung, but with a female spin.

I hated her at the beginning of the season, but the last four weeks she is EASILY my favorite. She's growing by leaps and bounds and she knows what she's doing. Jacob hurts my ears. He's such a freakin whiner it makes me nauseous, and he can drop the "pure" act as well.

James faltered big time tonight. I like him but I hated both of his performances, he was out of tune in both. Lauren amped it up for the first time in weeks and Scotty was..well Scotty.

I would LOVE to see a Lauren/Haley finish. Time to put the boys to bed. Something tells me that the voters are so polarized this season that if a male DOES win, he will not do well sales wise. None of the guys will sell at all, well except for Scotty and unless he does the nasty and matures a bit, he will only appeal to Idol voters period.

I hope its ok for me to post here, since I haven't been part of your discussion before, but I watched the show tonight and wanted to chime in.

Ok, I can't! stand! Jacob. He's so... overwrought... it makes me uncomfortable to watch him.

I loved Durbin's emotion in his second song. I'm thinking he'll finish #2 behind Scotty.

Scotty also makes me uncomfortbale, just becuase he's got some odd habits of movement on stage. He looks like the love child of Alfred E Newman and George W Bush, which is ok, but he's always leaning to one side like a stroke victim. Its so pronounced and weird its hard for me to watch. That said, that kid has mad talent and a hell of a future- and I'm not even a country fan. Hey, mebbe some day Lauren can be his back up singer.

I like Lauren, actually. I want to see what happens to her in about 5 years when she's had some time to mature and grow out of her coddled teen thing and breaks free of her stage mom. Some time paying her dues with bar gigs will do her good. I think her voice is wonderful.

Haley. I wanted to hate, ya, but I love ya. I really think this girl could make a sapc tac album of kind of blusey quirky songs. Me likee her HotRS and even the first Gaga song. Was Jimmy trying to sabotage her with suggesting she sing an unknown (and kind of meh) song?

It should be Lauren. She's a lifeless, country. barbie doll. She's too young and the fame will ruin her. I see her looking confused, emotionless other than fear. She has that weird smile plastered on her face, too much makeup and now they are giving her the world's biggest hair. It's horrific. Last night's dress for Unchained Melody looked like a prom dress from the early 70's. They are coaching her in her every move, everything is choreographed and looks totally unnatural.It's like watching a bad high school musical where the singer is pretty good but can't dance and has only memorized her lines with poor delivery.

Based on whose left and how they're doing, I would SO love Lauren and Haley to be the top 2 with Scotty being #3, James #4 and Jacob GONE ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love love love Lauren and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for her.

My hubby already bought both Haley songs! He LOVES her.

I thought Jacob and James were both terrible last night. I still really want to like James, especially since everyone else does and he could possibly win. I feel like I should like him. But I just can't. And last night certainly didn't help him. He seems like a really nice guy and everything, but vocally he's just not that good. I honestly thought he was the worst of the bunch last night. I did feel bad for him during his second song. But I'm not sure why he picked that song if he knew he couldn't get through it without crying.

Lauren and Scotty were my favorites last night as usual. I loved Lauren doing Carrie and thought Scotty's best was his second song. I love how he doesn't have to go over the top like some (Jacob/James). He can just sit there and sing and his voice is so beautiful. It's funny how I'm not even that into country and my two favorites this year are both country.

I also think it's sad that I think Haley should be in the top 3! She's definitely better than Jacob and James. This is the order of what place I think they should come in:
1/2 - Scotty/Lauren (still don't know who I like better)
3 - Haley
4 - James
5 - Jacob

I know it's not going to work out that way...but I can still wish.

As I said, no WAY Haley understands what House of the rising Sun is about. She sang it gritty because that's how she sings everything and that's how the song was done previously. But in the very beginning of the song she actually included a lyric that was meant to be sung by a man...can't remember what it was, but it very distinctly was referring to oneself as a man.

I don't like HER, and I will be royally teed off if she wins, but I thought her version of the song was very good. Possibly her best performance. But she still didn't "get it".
