Carole King was my first true musical love. I bought her Tapestry album when I was about 10 years old and literally wore it out. I still know every song by heart. I saw her live on her "Living Room Tour" a few years ago and she is still so awesome. Very pure voice and talented song writer. I am looking forward to next week. I guess I am an old fogey.

yes, seriously. Why would you think I was joking about this? I like the album a lot and still listen to it. So, it's not your liking..oh well, it is mine.

I like Carole King, too and didn't mean to upset you. It was announced so quickly, and seemed like a bad fit. I thought, maybe, somebody was playing a joke. I'm still, a bit surprised. Other than Elton John, the themes have been rather broad.

I thought the bottom two were right on-target this week, and even Haley in the bottom three probably makes sense, if you believe that Scotty has real talent and isn't just playing the role of a singer.

But I don't. I think she's boring, and her music is completely irrelevant to Idol. If someone had tried to sing a Carol King song in years past I think Simon would've chided them for being old-fashioned, self-indulgent and irrelevant.

However, since my whining will avail me nothing, I'll just have to sit back and watch what happens. Like I stated on page one, this is a carefully calculated move by producers (who will claim that this theme was planned before the season even started...riiiiiight), to boost the girls and weed out a guy.

So true, when my DD11 heard them say Carol King, she ran around the house screaming for joy. More like, she said "Who's Carol King?" and my DH said "Does she have enough songs for everyone to sing?" Since I've seen them do the Carol King week before, I knew there were, just not all songs you've heard of in the last century.

I tuned in-and-out of the show last night. That entire performance by Katy Perry and Kanya West was AWFUL!! The judges criticize the AI competitors for a Broadway-style show .... that's exactly what KP/KW were doing. It was actually quite creapy in that (I thought) she sang that she wanted to be a victim and then he just looked like a thug .... it was just disgusting for what is suppose to be family entertainment!!! Is that the message we want to send to our daughters?

I love David Cook, but didn't dig the new song. For most of the first part, it sounded like he was off-key. If that was the best single off his new CD, then I think it may end up being the last one he does. Come-on David ... you're better than that!!!

So sad to say goodbye to Stefano. I didn't expect him to win, but was always so happy to see him stick around another week. I will miss him. I was hoping that both Haley and Jacob would go home (in that order) before he did.

Loved seeing David Cook again, but didn't really love his new single.

Happy to hear Crystal will be coming back next week! I play her CD all the time!! Love her!!

They have to sing Carol King songs next week? Yuck. Didn't they make the contestants sing her stuff a season or two ago?

And I'm getting tired of J-Lo talking about not voting a girl off. Haley needs to go, should have been gone long ago.

As for DC. I was told to get the stupid grin off my face when he was done singing. It wasn't a song that I would run right out to buy, but I'll wait to hear more of the songs before I pass my full judgement.

I agree that the start of the performance by Katy Perry and Kanya West was subpar. I then left to get a snack, and take out the trash.
