American Idol: Season 10 PART III

I was totally underwhelmed tonight. I think they both sang well, but nothing really jumped out and grabbed me. Of course I am not a country fan...

\

I think Lauren Alaina wins the night. That said, a very boring, flat night for me. Lauren's single is better (read: more moving, more sickly sweet) than Scotty's. If I were to vote, I'd have voted for Lauren...

Would've been much more interesting if Haley was here...just sayin'. :)

I don't think I've seen a more BORING finale!

What was America thinking? :confused3

James and Haley totally should have had a showdown in the finale. That would have been an AWESOME show!!!!!

I found the show to be pretty lackluster, too. I'm glad Lauren was able to sing, and I wouldn't have noticed anything wrong with her voice if it hadn't been pointed out. They both sang well, but the performances were less than exciting. At first I was sitting in front of the TV, but as the show went on I found myself up and kind of piddling around, more or less half-way paying attention to Idol.

The only thing that did blow me away is that before tonight, I thought Scotty had it in the bag. But now I think Lauren has a legitimate shot at winning! I didn't vote, because it really doesn't matter to me who wins. I think both Scotty and Lauren will have successful careers.

I'm sure country music fans will disagree with everything I've said about the show being boring. ;) I do wish there had been one non-country singer in the finale, though. Haley, James, or Casey would have added some excitement for sure. Ah well......

I loved tonight's episode! I'm so excited that my two favorite contestants ended up being the final two!

I thought they both sounded great on all their songs. However, I thought they both sounded better on their first two songs than their last song. And I preferred Lauren's single to Scotty's single.

I really wish JLo wouldn't have declared Lauren the winner already. I hate when they do that! It always seems to be the kiss of death since whoever is given the win on finale night, isn't the person who actually wins. I wish they would just let America decide.

Anyways, I won't be voting tonight. This whole season I split my votes between Scotty and Lauren. And now that it's down to the two of them, I can't pick just one! So I'll let everyone else decide. I'll be happy with the outcome either way.

I agree! Someone needs to tell her to stop doing that next year. :headache: (if she's back next season as a judge, when I kind of hope is negative) She has pulled that several times this season, including last week when she declared Lauren the winner of round 2 before Haley even sang. :sad2:

Oh yeah! I couldn't bring myself to watch, but I kept turning back to see DC! I also knew from the minute Steven Tyler said they had just found their winner that they had just found their winner because the producers wanted a young, marketable girl. I don't think anyone else ever really had a chance of winning. Like Robyn, I personally know how manipulative the TV business can be. It's all for profit first, entertainment second.

I'm not even in the business and I know that's how it works. If this show wasn't making them money hand over fist they would drop it in a flash. Look at all the commercial time they sell on this show..I think it is more than I've ever seen on a show and this year seems like even more than other years (if that is at all possible). They have a money maker and they will try to manipulate the results to make the most impact.

So there wasn't a winner tonight? I didn't watch it, but I thought I heard this was the final show.:confused3

I finally got to watch tonight's episode on the DVR and while both sang well, I was underwhelmed for most of the show. I did like Lauren's original song better than Scotty's though.

um, no.. tonight was the final "sing off" between the last 2 contestants. we find out the results tomorrow.

and just the fact that this thread was SO far down!!! shows me how little interest there is in it.. bnow that Haley is gone, and James Durbin.

nobody really cares which teenage country singer wins.

I am not sure if he is the front runner, but I do think he is happy with his accomplishments so far..and I think he is ok winning or not winning. It's sort of effortless for him, like he is there for the experience. To me he comes across like if he wins, great, if he doesn't that's cool too. He gives a vibe that just being in the top 10 is already feeling like a winner, seems very sincere. He is the anti-drama, lol.

Scotty has said time and time again that he never even expected to make it to Holllywood. The only reason he even auditioned is because summer was almost over and his family had not had a vacation planned yet so they decided their vacation would be to go audition for Idol:lmao:. After the second round in Hollywood Scotty had said he thought he deserved to go home. I think he is perfectly fine not winning and maybe even expects not to because he has never thought he was that good.

Lauren on the other hand, she thinks she deserves to win and thinks she is the best:rolleyes:

I dont like the two as a couple personally. One, because I want Scotty!:thumbsup2 Two, because she just looks to old for him and I still dont like her attitude! And, this is coming from someone that had no problems with Haley.

I care, and I'm guessing many others care! I think both sang beautifully and both seem like genuinely nice kids. I hope each comes away with a successful career.

I care too. I just don't have time to keep posting.

I just felt like last night shows was too rushed. Sing a song...5 minutes of commercials, sing a song...5 minutes of commercials.

Oh I definitely care! It's not very often that two of my favorites are in the top 2!

I care which contestant wins, I didn't post last night because I was watching the show. it was a rushed show, a lot of commercials, but it is a huge bummer that James was not in it.

Sounds like your perception of Lauren is colored by your thoughts on Scotty. ;)

Seriously though, it's been said again and again that Lauren's problem is her lack of confidence. So how do you find her to be acting like she's the best or deserves to win? All I've seen (and I don't care if she wins or not) is a scared deer-in-the-headlights kid on that stage.

I care ! :thumbsup2

From what I've seen in this thread there are country music lovers, country music haters, and plain old music lovers. I'm just a plain old music lover.

Get in my car and turn on my radio and push the buttons. You will hear anything from classical to jazz to classic rock to country. I love it all.

As I've said, to me it doesn't matter who wins tonight. They are both great singers and will have a solid career ahead of them.

But I personally would have preferred Pia and James in the finale. ;)

I am so frustrated with myself!!!! I feel asleep and didn't get to see it live, but thankfully I recorded it just in case that happened...I hope Scotty wins!!!!! See you all tonight!

BTW Who is the entertainers on tonight if any?

I am so frustrated with myself!!!! I feel asleep
I fell asleep, woke up, rewound it, and fell asleep AGAIN. Not much to keep me awake since I'm not really a country music fan, I guess. :confused3 I'll watch it tonight before the results show. I'm frustrated that I missed David Cook! :guilty:
