American Idol: Season 10 PART III

Either Scotty or Lauren would be welcomed as the winner of this season. Both did a great job on last night's show.

The "trooper" of the evening has to go to Lauren though. We're told during the rehearsal for the finale, Lauren was supposed to sing three songs. She got through the first, struggled through the second and was unable to perform the third. Her vocal cords, according to the program's doctor, were "blown out".

With that as the background of the rehearsal results, I think it is remarkable that she was even able to perform at the finale. The emotional and physical strain on her as a sixteen year-old were tremendous. Whether you like her song choices or anything else about her, her performance under intense pressure was fantastic.

Whether she or Scotty wins tonight, they both are winners.

I liked both Lauren and Scotty since auditions. through the season I picked Scotty as the winner. I feel like Idol basically set up a win for Lauren though with the sympathy call out on her vocal cords and the heartstring tuggin' mom song. It felt to me very much like they are picking the winner.

it sort of reminded me of the Reuben/Clay season when they all but told us to pick Reuben. Fine with me as that was my pick too!

Either one is going to be successful. YAY for Country!!!

I thought that they were going to have original songs last night for their first single.

I was surprise to hear that the song that Lauren sang, "Like my mother does" , was already recorded by former contestant Kristy Lee Cook.

Has anyone ever recorded the song that Scotty sang?

Yikes those singles are yucky.

I think Lauren got the better fo the 2, both with the normal type family/mom lyrics so common to the genre...but what would have been a hoot would have been to have those 2 songs no matter who the 2 finalists were, lol,...James or Casey trying to put their style on Scotty's? Naima or Karens spanish version of Lauren's? Actually, James did have a little twang in one of his songs, he probably would have done ok, and you know he would have hit the high notes.

From what I've seen in this thread there are country music lovers, country music haters, and plain old music lovers. I'm just a plain old music lover.

Get in my car and turn on my radio and push the buttons. You will hear anything from classical to jazz to classic rock to country. I love it all.As I've said, to me it doesn't matter who wins tonight. They are both great singers and will have a solid career ahead of them.

But I personally would have preferred Pia and James in the finale.

That's kind of how I am about music. I'm a serial dial flipper. I wouldn't say I'm a country music fan, but there are country songs I like........however, nothing from last night. I never would have called myself a jazz fan either, but I did enjoy some of Casey's songs and especially the "Moanin'" duet.

The singles still would have been yucky. I would change the channel upon hearing either of those songs. Boring lyrics, no real hook, too slow. Hopefully their albums are better.

BTW they can be PROUD to know that they beat the Lee/Crystal finale LOWEST ratings for a finale... which is no easy feat!!

Lauren on the other hand, she thinks she deserves to win and thinks she is the best

Seriously though, it's been said again and again that Lauren's problem is her lack of confidence. So how do you find her to be acting like she's the best or deserves to win? All I've seen (and I don't care if she wins or not) is a scared deer-in-the-headlights kid on that stage.

If anything, Lauren's problem is that she doesn't think she's good enough. In the auditions, there seemed to be a confidence that one might even characterize as cocky, but ever since the live shows started, she's totally lacked that confidence which has led to a boring stage presence (which is my one real critique of her...and Scotty for that matter).

I didn't even know it was on last night. Good thing my PVR did! Ratings were down from last year, so I guess I wasn't the only one who was either not interested or didn't know it was on.
