that deep voice at such a young age is exactly what is so cool and unique about him...luckily for him he can sing...or basically he would be told to seek a career in radio/announcing. He needs the hat tho...since he doesn't have a rugged "cowboy" look yet, to add to his stage presence.

I think Paul and Caseys voices are kinda week though they are very good musicaly and do the best to strtch limitations.
I like them just do not think they have the best voices in the group. But it is not all about vocal abilty alone.

Ok, I love Paul , but his mannerisms when he sings......... they are reminding me of someone, just can't put my finger on it.........steve martin, jim carrey, some comedian but I don't know.
but I love his voice and his quirkiness.

I liked Brett, James and Casey too.
I couldn't get thru to vote for Brett, it was constantly busy.

I think is "mannerisms" were more of a "I can't really dance so I am just going to wiggle around the stage" deal That is one thing I have noticed with this group, there aren't any real "dancers" in the group--no so much dancing/dancing but "stage dancing" or performing I guess.

For those of you who are really digging Paul, you should check out my favorite Scottish singer, Paolo Nutini. He has a similar (but way stronger) quirkiness in both his mannerisms and his voice. Not for everyone, but a really neat singer and Paul totally reminds me of him.

There are a few of them that don't have great voices or stage presence. They just dont' have the whole package. I don't remember how long it took David Cook or Adam Lambert to distinguish themselves, but I'm fairly sure I was in by the 2nd or 3rd performance. However, I do remember intensely dislikng Adam's "Ring of Fire."

(I consider Season 8 Adam's year much more than Kris Allen).

I think afficionados of a certain genre are more critical than than those who barely listen to it. It's the main reason I didn't get Big Mike last year. His trying to do Maxwell made the hair stick up on my neck!! It's also why I put him on my siggie!!

Clint -- not bad, pretty good opening, but those glasses look like he was an extra for a 1945 'B' Kamikaze movie...

Jovanny -- about the smae as clint but that isn't saying much; a Rocky/Rambo wannabe...

Jordan -- HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE - Usher you are NOT!

Tim -- I don't see him making it past week; he did nothing to showcase his real talent.

Scotty -- not my kind of music but, OMG!

Brett -- Lose those horrid moves - QUICKLY! I do like his own spin to a song...

James -- not as 'screamy' as Adam Lambert, which is a good thing.

Paul -- GREAT song choice! I'm diggin' the sound of his voice...

Jacob -- voice of an angel.

Robbie -- Not bad - not great; I thought that he'd do better.

Stefano -- I don't see what all the judge's fuss over him was all about; better than Jovanny, though....

Casey -- nerdy smooth cool....missed the bass though..

I keep thinking a more fluid Joe Cocker. But that isn't quite it either.

I really don't want to rip on the guy but his teeth are REALLY white. Like Ross on that episode of Friends white.

ah, you know what would be fun? If those of you commenting during the show would identify WHO you're referring to. I'm reading these comments the next morning, & I can't figure out who you're talking about. Maybe I'm going back too many pages, but I like to see what the initial reactions are, and because of the time zones....I'm lost!

That said, I don't see Adam Lambert in James Durbin. (of course, I wasn't a Lambert fan and we're all pretty excited around here for James, since he's from Santa Cruz, an hour or so south of us.)

THAT's IT!! I was trying to figure out a good definition for his glasses, "looks like a bug" wasn't quite right.

I wonder if the Dial Idol site (or another site) will have some technology to see how many people are voting online so we can cheat and see who is on top each week that way too.

They keep changing their minds about what they want to do with the wildcards. I thought the wildcards were going to be announced on Thursday along with the 10 who got the highest votes. And now it dropped from 3 to 2? I wonder if they'll ever make up their minds.

Uggh, that really makes me mad. The poor kid has been made fun of his whole life (which is why I've been rooting for him since his audition), and this surely doesn't help. I was picked on a lot when I was younger too and I can definitely say this wouldn't exactly help my self esteem.

I really hope he doesn't see this and think everyone is laughing at him. He's definitely awkward on stage, but he's still a good singer. No way is he the worst.
