Lambert was good, but for me, the gold standard for American Idols and the seasons was/is DAVID COOK and his season. My goodness that man just has my number.

Hello! :love::faint:

oh. yeah. i'm with you on that one! LOVE david cook! it was all downhill from there.

i didn't even watch last season. i watched the initial auditions and Hollywood week and that was it. i tried to tune in every now and again, but it was just so...dull.

i will give this season a shot. i don't give a flip about J-Lo. what a waste of money and hype. but i am eager to see Steven Tyler. i just hope he keeps it real.

i find it interesting that it was such a huge ordeal to get J-Lo. and yet, everyone i know doesn't care a bit about her. but most are excited about Steven Tyler. hm...

Woooo! It's almost here gang. So let this be the official thread for the new season.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. After last season's complete waste of my time, and being a snooze-fest let-down, I can only pray that this season is somehow an improvement. I already miss Simon (and don't care for J-Lo) but I DO love Steven Tyler, so maybe there is hope. For me, it all comes down to the performers. The show doesn't live or die by the hosts and judges. It's about the talent.

So who else is going to tune in?

I am so excited - I love Steven, I think he will be a RIOT!

I'll be tuning in. Steven Tyler has great energy and i think will bring a lot to the show.:thumbsup2

I'm watching despite the fact last year was the only one I bailed on...:scared: I figure it CAN'T get worse! :happytv:

I'll miss Simon but I love Steven, I'm just sorry they didn't dump Randy, too! :lmao: Any year without Kara is a year I'll be watching!! :thumbsup2

I'll be watching, too... will miss Simon, but love Steven!! I won't miss Ellen or Kara at all, but to be fair, I quit watching last season after Hollywood week.

I'm IN!:thumbsup2
Mostly for Steven Tyler, I'm OK w/Randy....JLo...errrrrrr, not really a fan and I think she is going to get on my nerves pretty quickly but hope I am way wrong because I REALLY miss having quality Idol going on!
Like Robin I bailed last season..I think I watched the last 2 nights of it.
My DS has 2 friends, one names Steven and one named Tylee. A lot of times DS's conversation includes them both such as,
ME: who all is coming over?
DS: Mike, STEVEN, TYLER, Tim.....
ME: STEVEN TYLER? At OUR house? WOO-HOO:woohoo::woohoo: :lmao:

Yeah, I'll be watching. :hippie:

Looks like Steven was a GREAT pick! :thumbsup2
I'll be watching because I love him! Huge Aerosmith fan.

Did anybody catch Jay Leno the other night when he had them all on? It was a good glimpse into how witty Steven is. I think his sort of humor is going to work great! Excited to watch. :)

I am intrigued to see the changes being made but if the singing talent is not there this season I am out. Last season was bad and yet I was still sucked in.

Absolutely thrilled to be able to see Steven on TV every week. He has an amazing personality and is a true expert on vocal musicianship. He'll replace Simon for me in that I will respect his opinion.

After all these years I can't take AI too seriously anymore. Not that I really did before, but I've come to see how the artists' CDs are rushed out and how the music on CDs is largely awful, despite the singers' talent. That's what's determine who has been successful, IMO.

I am not sure.... last year killed me and I only made it a few weeks!

I'll be tuning in! Especially since I work at the Idol Experience in WDW, I'll def be watching the audition episodes to see if any of our dream ticket winners make it! We had some awesome talent this summer, so we can only hope!!

I'm actually kind of excited for the new season to start. Yeah, it's going to be different with the new judges but who knows, maybe it'll be interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing the Milwaukee auditions. Maybe I'll see someone I know. :rotfl:

Bumpity bump! Just two more days folks. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!

While we wait, let's review some of our past highlights and...well...low lights:

And finally...let's just call the whole season a low light eh?
images

I might tune in for a little while since nothing else will be on tomorrow night until when I watch SVU at 10...I am curious as to what changes they made and maybe it will be interesting...?

Carrie Underwood fan here. I WILL be tuning in this season, completely because of Steven Tyler. A great musician and singer, finally someone that knows the music business and singing. Although his style is very unconventional, he does front one of the greatest rock bands of all time and should have a great insight, ear and eye for talent.

J-Lo, I'm not a huge fan, but very fine with this selection. And SO much more than Paula or Ellen? :confused3 Never got that one at all, a comedian for a show about judging singing talent? I think she is a good choice for this role and I do like her, just not a huge fan of hers. I do think she is very qualified to do this role, and she does have a lot of talent herself in both acting and singing.

This should be a great show, but I guess the million dollar question is Steven going to play the Simon role and be kind of rude and crude but in the brutally honest way that Simon was? Don't get me wrong Simon was great and I totally got where he was coming from, he was too funny, but he was a bit rude, but of course that is what everyone loved, including me. Can't wait for this season.

these two were so memorable I had to do a search to remember their names!:lmao:

American Idol better get back on track, two years in a row is bad. There are more talented people in my office than the group they had last year.:scared:

Tomorrow gang! Just one more day and then Idol has the opportunity to make me a fan again.

Watched Steven on Dave Letterman Last night and Regis and Kelly this morning. He is SO totally gonna make this show! Really looking forward to tomorrow!:thumbsup2

Anyone see Steven on Regis and Kelly this morning? They ran a little clip that showed why he is going to make a spectacular judge. A 20 second clip and already he had to be bleeped. :lmao: Love it.

I LOVED Lee DeWyze (although I do admit to forgetting his name -- not good at names;)) and hope we hear more from him in the future. His voice is sooooo sexy, IMO.

I can not wait to watch tomorrow! I really hope the talent is there and not just some weirdo people that can't sing. I get it is a TV show that is "cast" but I still have a hard time understand why it can't be cast with people who can actually sing and perform. That is what the show is supposed to be. And I agree with Robyn. The last two years had the same winner and both were boring.
