I haven't watched in years. I got bored with it. I'll probably watch tommorow and see how it goes though. But ONLY because of Steven Tyler.

I just don't care for J-Lo at all. Randy is just meh. Not a big fan but I don't dislike him.

Anyone see Steven on Regis and Kelly this morning? They ran a little clip that showed why he is going to make a spectacular judge. A 20 second clip and already he had to be bleeped. Love it.

DANG, had to work and missed it! Good to know Steven Tyler is going ot be himself and not some version Idol wants him to be,,,(at least I hope so based on your post)He is 90% of why I will be watching,,the other 10% is for the train wrecks in the beginning, tho I thought I read somewhere that they are shortening that phase of the show?

American Idol is set to return for its tenth season with new judges, new talent and new surprises along the way. This season’s judges – Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler – are a triple-threat of credibility, chemistry and talent. Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, whose career as a music producer and record executive is unparalleled, will serve as the in-house mentor. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the two-night season premiere kicks off with auditions from New York / New Jersey on Wednesday, Jan. 19 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and New Orleans on Thursday, Jan. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
After the two-night premiere, auditions will continue for three weeks on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
American Idol auditions continue in Hollywood on Wednesday, Feb. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Thursday, Feb. 17 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) with the hopefuls who received tickets to Hollywood from the judges. The contestants who make it through Hollywood will then head to Las Vegas for the first time ever to perform Beatles songs on the Cirque du Soleil LOVE stage Wednesday, Feb. 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). The auditions will conclude on Thursday, Feb. 24 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) when the judges reveal – in an exciting new twist – 20 semifinalists (10 guys and 10 girls).
The semifinalists compete on Tuesday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 2 (8:00-9:30 PM ET/PT). The five male and five female contestants with the most votes will be the first to join this season’s finalists. The judges’ will also make their special “Wild Card” picks rounding out the finalists on Thursday, March 3 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

But basically genre theme weeks are gone! If your pop you sing pop, if your country you sing country. The themes will be decade based. It's going to be focused more on the contestants again. They will be back living in a house together again. There is also some rumors the Green Mile will be live.

Nothing ever stays the same, so I'm game for whatever they do. Like everyone has said, it can't get any worse than last season!

I'm watching tonight! I wasn't really into it at first, but now it's so close, I guess I am excited! Either that or not much on tv lately!

Thanks for the schedule, Mandy. I'll see you guys when the semifinalists are on. I HATE the auditions...ugh... and most of all hate getting hooked on a contestant I never see again.

When the auditions are over I check the spoilers then only look at those auditions. Saves me some grief!

Woooo! It's almost here gang. So let this be the official thread for the new season.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. After last season's complete waste of my time, and being a snooze-fest let-down, I can only pray that this season is somehow an improvement. I already miss Simon (and don't care for J-Lo) but I DO love Steven Tyler, so maybe there is hope. For me, it all comes down to the performers. The show doesn't live or die by the hosts and judges. It's about the talent.

So who else is going to tune in?

that's the same thing DH and i are going to be doing. watching a few episodes to see how it goes. i already miss Simon too and i STILL miss Paula lol
