Well, as many of you, I absolutely LOVE American Idol. Watch it religiously every year. But once the competition really starts, I CANNOT watch it in "real time". The past two episodes, I have watched the whole thing, and I will watch the whole thing of the first round in Hollywood, but once we're down and the competition really starts? It's fast forward time.
What do I mean? I can't watch the whole thing. And I have DVR, the cable equivalent of TiVo. So, I zip through whatever Ryan Seacrest is saying; b/c quite frankly, I could care less. If there is a "guest" judge I don't care about, I zip through his/her history. I listen to the first song; and in a few seconds determine (1) do I know it? (2) do I care to listen to it? (3) is the singer making me want to listen? and (4) is it time to zzzzzzzip through the song? More often than not, off I go until I get to the judge's remarks. Listen to them, decide to agree or disagree; and then repeat. All in all, "my" AI show lasts 15-20 minutes tops. And the results show? 5-10 minutes tops.
The few times I have had to watch the show in real time b/c I'm out of town or something, it is EXCRUTIATING to me to watch.
Thank goodness for DVR.
Anyone else do this?
