It was great! Many of the show's details have been covered already so won't go into all that again. Funny to me but Trenyce was never once of my favorites on tv but I really liked her in concert. She did a Tina Turner like "Proud Mary" and I thought she had a lot of energy, enjoyed it. Kim C - though still never a favorite of mine - I liked her better on tv than in concert. Last night she just seemed loud and monotone to me - not a lot of range in her voice, pretty girl though. Of course this was Charlotte so when Clay first appeared, looking very nice in a dark suit and smoke swirling around him, I couldn't even tell what he was singing for the first minute or two. The crowd was so loud you absolutely could not hear him. You could tell he was very happy at the response and he was singing TITN. Every time he came out and every time he finished singing the crowd would go wild, he'd stand there looking grateful/touched and finally have to settle everyone down so he could talk. He expressed his thankfulness, said Charlotte was his hometown too (crowd goes wild again) . . . what a great thing to see a nice guy finish first - 'cause his future is going to be as great as if he'd won AI2 - it really isn't going to matter that he didn't.
Clay introduced his Mom and "Diane" the lady that convinced him to try out for American Idol. Someone threw a pair of yellow happy face boxers onto the stage and he pulled them on over his white pants, wore them for rest of that act
He sang his new song Invisible too - I'll be there to buy his album when it comes out!
Kim L sounded good, powerful set of pipes there. Clay introduced Rueben as his good friend and he got a warm welcome , was his happy self. You Know when people do that "Ruuueeben" thing for him - it could be mistaken for booing, it kinda sounds the same. Wonder if that's what was going on in other cities?
My kids did great, made it through the whole thing. DS said the finale was his favorite part - Proud to be an American with the fireworks and all. If you have any questions I'd be happy to try to answer them.
Oh, an the souvenirs are VERY expensive. Maybe I just haven't looked at buying any in a while but T Shirts were $30, programs $20, I think the posters were $10? They had hats, buttons etc.
Have a good weekend!
