American Horror Story: Hotel

I finally had a chance to watch it yesterday. Not too impressed. I miss Jessica Lange. I've liked the other seasons (all seen on Netflix except for Freak Show) but this one seemed too gory/gross right out of the gate. :( I'll give it another episode or two to decide for sure if I'm going to continue with it. The hotel is neat, and I do like the storyline with the couple that their son was taken from the carousel. Would kind of like to see what happens with that. But could do with less of the gory stuff.

We were not impressed. We will DVR the next episode, but if it is still lackluster, we will discontinue the DVR recording.

I began to watch it at night but got so grossed out and disturbed I had to wait and watch it in the daylight. It did not help.

I've had a love hate relationship with this show. Loved Murder House and have highly anticipated watching each week during the season. I keep waiting for it to get back to the scare/freaky quality of the first season.

I watched Hotel and really loved the set. Such a beautiful hotel with a fantastic Art Deco style.

The episode itself was a bit disjointed and really seemed to be about pushing the envelope instead of quality story development.

Wow...I don't even know what to say. That premiere was a hot mess:rotfl: I'm not sure how I felt about it, I do know it made me a tad uncomfortable in parts..I'm guessing some of the victims felt the same:eek::blush:

I am sad to admit that I spent a majority of my weekend curled up on the couch watching American Horror seasons 1 & 2. I liked both equally, and I think I'll continue on.

I enjoyed seasons 1-3, but HATED Freak Show. The premiere of Hotel was ok, but is anyone else confused by the characters? So many handsome, dark haired gentleman that I couldn't keep them all straight....plus more to come!

Just watched the 1st episode last night... hated it. Don't see any story or any likable characters. We may skip this season... don't even feel compelled to give it another episode. :(

Just read that there will be one episode were they do go back to murder house...I wonder if it will be current or flashback.

Murder House was my favorite season also..speaking of that did anyone recognize who the realtor was?

Yup, and I do believe they made a verbal reference as well. As she was walking the new owner into the building, she said something about having gotten her dog through unfortunate circumstances. She kept the family's dog at the end of Murder House, didn't she?

That was my thought when she said that also.

Did anyone watch last night? I was glad to see Finn Wittrock, but liked him much better as Dandy.. lol The Mr. March storyline was creepy as heck!

I think I'm done. I watched the second episode and it was no better. It's just one "designed to shock" scene after the other, with precious little storyline holding it together. And the scenes don't even shock any longer. Blood, murder, drugs, anal rape....You've seen a hundred, you've seen them all. The character of Mr. March was horribly acted, just too overdone. And he couldn't maintain the accent. It's like one loooooooooong Lady Gaga video and that can't hold my interest.

Haven't watched it yet. It records here at 10:30, so will wait for DH tonight.

I just started watching the show last season with Freak Show. I liked Freak Show. After the first episode of Hotel, I was not into it. I really could have done without the soft core porn that seemed to be there for no other reason than shock value. They did a terrible job of explaining anything and didn't leave me wanting to see future episodes to see what was going on and what was going to happen. I watched the second episode to see if it looked like it was going to improve. It was a bit better. I like the addition of Finn Wittock, but agree with DeluxePrincess that it is hard to keep some of the men separate. The all look so similar. Gaga has not dazzled me and I'm unsure of her being the one to carry this season. She just doesn't seem to have to chops the be the star of the show. At least they tuned down the scenes that were there solely for shock value. I'll give it one more episode, but if it isn't better than the second or, heaven forbid, as bad or worse than the first episode, I'm out.

I mentioned this to someone. Someone in casting has a "type." Like the guy you know who always dates leggy women with long, blonde straight hair and never a petite brunette. Trading Jessica Lange for Lady Gaga will never work. I can't buy her as irresistible and a seductress supreme.

See, I think Lady Gaga is doing an outstanding job this season and I cringe to think of Jessica Lange in the same role. I am so down with this season. Of course, I loved Freak Show too.
For me, this is Evan Peters best role..a little edgier than usual.

I don't think someone in casting has a type. Matt Bomer said to Gaga last night "you do have a type" so it appears to be intentional.
The soft core stuff has got to ease up though. There is some interesting stuff going on but the over the top sleazy stuff is detracting from the story. I am not one that is easily bothered by that kind of stuff, but this is just excessive.

Maybe they said that line...I was so bored I didn't even hear it. As for Evan Peters, I am not a fan of him in this role. One of his best assets is his ability to show his vulnerability and this role offers none of that. This show had so much promise in the beginning. Season One was amazing. It has never lived up to that potential.
