"American Horror Story: Coven" — What did you think?

Last night rocked. OMGoodness. I had guessed that Zoe is the new Supreme, but this decides it! I was officially creeped out and a little bit scared; not in that check behind the curtains for ghost way I was in season one, but definitely unsettled, which was a nice frisson.

(BTW, I've decided this is all taking place in an alternate universe NO and can now stop nitpicking narrative choices that just don't jibe with any form of reality, LOL. It's better that way!)

Where was Frankenboyfriend?

I don't think Zoe is the next Supreme, I think it is the Stevie Nicks girl , both she and Fiona we know can bring back the dead. Or maybe it will be Gabourey.

The realist in me keeps wondering how the people in the "attic-o-horrors" are still alive (especially the one with the mouth sewed shut). Yes, I know, this is the detail that bothers me amid the witches, zombies, voodoo queens, etc.!

That little detail was taken from a late 19th century or early 20th century ghost story style retelling of the Lalaurie myth, I believe. I suppose the mouth sewn shut person was either unstitched or died.

So I watched this today. Did anyone else catch that when Cordelia's husband touched her hand, she saw his infidelity? She may have lost her everyday eyesite, but I believe she will still be able to see.

And I too think that Zoe is the next supreme, at least that's the vibe I received.

I love it!! I totally love Misty.

And I knew that Zoe would be the real supreme on the rise.

Yes - I think somehow she will be able to see also one way or another.

This has been bugging me ever since the history of the enmity between the Witches and Laveau was introduced. So, Laveau is the descendant of Tituba, and the other witches are the descendants of the girls at Salem.

Queenie is a descendant of Tituba. Further, she is a "human voodoo doll" in her own words.

What's up with that and where are they going with it?

I predict Queenie will betray the school.

Laveau would have killed Queenie if Fiona hadn't brought Queenie back to life. OTOH, I would consider that debt paid. Still. If I were Queenie, I wouldn't harbor kind feelings for Laveau much over that one. . .

Oh, I just re-read the scholarly book on Lalaurie's life over the weekend. http://www.amazon.com/Madame-Lalaurie-Mistress-Haunted-House-ebook/dp/B008DM2PVO/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1384219419&sr=8-4&keywords=lalaurie The number of slaves she killed was, I suspect, at least in the 20s. The author wouldn't speculate, but laid out all the slaves that Lalaurie owned over her life and what happened to them. . .a LOT of deaths of young people and young adults and a LOT of people who just disappeared. Creepy, scary woman who, IRL, never paid for her crimes.

I just started a book on Laveau by the same author that I've been meaning to read, just never quite got around to it. So far, it's really fascinating stuff if you want to understand pre-American New Orleans and the sexual/legal/relational mores of the period.

Queenie seems like she is starting to fit in and caring for her coven. Also it seems like no one has given her the emotional inclusion that she wanted till the coven.

Maybe she will but it might take a lot she seems to have strong since of loyalty.

I see there are plans for a season 4 but maybe without Jessica Lange who says she may be leaving the show. :worried:

That'd be sad but if it's a solid season, it's a solid season.

I've love to see seasons devoted to:

- A traveling freak show set in the 1910s to 1930s
- A kid's summer camp set in the 1980s

Never saw it.

It was an hbo show, only lasted two seasons. It was really good. You might like it if you want an AHS set in an old freakshow. It was set during the depression in a traveling carnival. Good vs. Evil type show, dark and mysterious.

Sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
