American holiday sales

We drive across the border to shop on occasion and I am wondering when the best sale days are in the U.S. I know about Black Friday of course but was wondering about Memorial Day weekend and other times.
If there tends to be good sales for Memorial Day, what day(s) is it? The Saturday?
Just curious...as we are trying to plan a couple of day trips with our family.

They have sales for every holiday. We hit some particularly good ones last summer on labour day weekend.

We're thinking of Memorial Day in May. So i am crossing my fingers.

They have some good President's Day sales- our Family Day in Ontario.

There are sales for EVERY possible occasion. There doesn't even need to be an occasion, they make one up!

It's often useful to get the Friday newspaper for the city you're going to (i.e. Buffalo, Detroit, Orlando) to see a lot of the weekend sale advertisements and often department store discount coupons; likewise the Sunday newspaper has the largest number of sale inserts overall.
