American Girl - Girl of the Year

I am new to the American Girl doll scene and have a few questions... I have ordered Isabelle for my daughter but had no idea all the accessories that go with her were available. My question is do the current girl of the year items go on sale on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? If not, what does in the past? Also, are the accessories just like the doll and not available after the new year? If there are accessories left over do they get marked down on sale due to the new girl of the year being introduced? If so, where do I find the reduced accessories, online, in store, outlets? I can see this becoming an expensive adventure for the Mom of two little girls. Thanks in advance.

My advice, if you want ANYTHING that is Isabelle related, order it now and just suck up the price & the shipping. Once that stuff is gone, it's gone and come January 1st, it's gone FOREVER.

They do have sales (I think it's Cyber Monday), but not for the GOTY items and the website is known to be very, very slow and crash. I have had times where I've put stuff in my cart and by the time I've gotten to checkout, it's sold out.

I wish you luck, I'm part sad and part thankful that my DD is outgrowing her long AG wish lists. The last 3 years have been AG heavy

If you want anything from Isabelle, order it now. Don't wait. When supplies are gone, they are gone. Nothing will be available after Jan 1st.

It is not likely they will put anything "Girl of the Year" related on sale.

The official Isabelle accessories will disappear when she does. However I have noticed American Girl has taken popular items from the last 2 Girls of the Year and released a generic version into the "My American Girl" line. So there is always a possibility they will do this again.

If Isabelle's items do not sell out by the end of the year, they "may" repackage and sell them during future sales. However, I wouldn't count on it and get any items you are interested in while there is free shipping.

Do they announce ahead of time who the girl of the year will be for next year? Or is it not done until January 1? We are planning on letting DD, 6 1/2, get a doll this Christmas, and she really likes when they come with stories but we do not like this years girl of the year. (and unfortunately none of the historic girls work very well since DD wants to do their hair so it has to be long and straight. And we don't want Julie.)!this is the only doll she will ever get so we want to make sure we pick the right one! Of course she is six, so she won't want to wait until January just in case she likes the new doll. She'll want one ASAP.

Well they do not officially announce her until January 1st. However, just like with everything else on the Internet, someone always figures it out weeks (if not months) ahead of time and posts it. With the last two, people were talking about details in the summer that turned out to be accurate. With Saige someone posted a picture probably in November.

The new GOTY name and backstory is known on the fan sites however the doll itself has not been leaked yet. AG is doing a good job of plugging all leaks and keeping any doll info under wraps this year.

I just want to warn anyone reading this thread who wants the GOTY to get her now! She WILL sell out before Christmas and the only way you'll be able to get her will be on eBay for twice as much (or more).

If your DD can't decide, I'd nudge her in the direction of one with straight hair. It is MUCH easier to take care of. My DD(almost 12) doesn't really "play" with her dolls like she used to, but she still braids/styles the hair quite a bit. Curly-haired Lanie is kind of a mess and stays in the closet, but the dolls with long, straight hair get new styles a lot.

While my wallet is happy there is no AG on the Christmas list this year, a little part of me is sad that she is "over it." I hope your DD loves her new doll as much as my girls have!

We had a GOTY request--was able to get what we needed except the girl pajamas. All sizes medium and lower are back ordered until 1/9/15. I went ahead and ordered them because my daughter always asks for the matching pj's.

We didn't consider anything other than clothing and accessories for them doll. All were still available except the girl pj's as noted. The girl slippers were sold out.


I hate the GOTY. We don't do major toy purchases during the year and my kids always only ask for them at Christmas when they do. But we usually direct then to the other dolls.
