American Girl Dolls for a 5 year old..

Which beds were you talking about from Target? I was looking on the website and noticed there are a bunch.

Thanks

My BF has a little girl and when she was 3 (and my DD was 2) she got a Bitty Baby. BF went nuts an got tons of matching sets for her DD and Bitty. I thought she was nuts for spending that $$ on a 3 yo. A year later she got my DD her first Bitty Baby. After awhile I got the bug too. At 4 she got the twins (actually talked DH into a trip to Chicago so I could go to AG store!!) and their stroller. At 4 1/2 she got Jess (A Girl of the Year doll) She didn't get any AG stuff last year for her birthday, but got Licorice and Coconut for Christmas. Her 6th birthday is next week and she has announced that she wants another AG doll. I told her maybe at Christmas.

I have gotten a few retired Twins sets on ebay. Up until a few years ago, they sold both the boys and girls sets together. Now they don't have nearly as much offered for the boy twin, so ebay is a great way to go. If you are leary of buying from there look for sets that are NWT (new with tags)

You can take all of the dolls hair out of their ponytails or braids and style them however you want. The dolls with curly, and wavy hair are a little harder to take care of. And you should get their doll hairbrush - so their hair doesn't frizz. Target also has a cute beauty shop chair. (Gift from Grandma!!) DD has played beauty shop (usually with DH!!) quite a bit with that chair. If yourAG doll needs a "day at the spa" or say if a little brother or dog gets ahold of it you can send it back to AG and they will make her look as good as new (at a fee , of course. I think it's the doll hospital on their website - they can even replace lost limbs.)

I taught myself how to sew last year, and now LOVE making DD and Jess matching sets. She is a petite little thing and might be able to wear the 6's this year. So sewing for her is a great option. Here's a picture from Christmas last year in their matching nightgowns I made.

Okay last question girls!!! How long should I expect for shipping? We are in Texas--southeast actually. 'bout an 1 & 1/2 SE of Houston. Do they ship it postal service or a carrier like Fed Ex. Gotta know kinda when to be on the look-out-------wouldn't want her to see it get delivered!!

They usually ship by UPS. :goodvibes

They sent me an email with a tracking number. This was great b/c the UPS always comes at a certain time, so I knew the date and approximate time the doll would be delivered. The outside box didn't say American Girl on it and DD didn't have a clue until we gave it to her a few weeks later.

My DD, 5 years, has Emily. We were at the American Girl Store last winter and this is what she picked out. The biggest hit with her is the hair care kit. She just loves to do her hair! She puts it in the curlers, braids it, piggie tails etc. The squirt bottle is a big hit too and we even use the supplies when she plays hair-do with my hair. So fun! I think your daughter would love the just like me doll and it would be well worth the money! Now you have me thinking, that is a great idea for Christmas, or her 6th bday in November.

Thanks for the heads up about the UPS. I will be on the lookout once the order is placed. Hopefully in the next week!!!:santa: Got to get going!!!

I keep trying to decide what to do. My dd will be 3 on January 4. I want to get her an AG doll for Christmas. I'm not sure if I should do one of the big dolls or the twins. HELP!!!

I am having princess dresses made for my dd and the doll. I truly am torn on what to do.

We got the blonde twins for my daughter for Xmas when she was 3. She loved them then and still loves them now. Since it was her "big" gift we got her the set with the stroller and extra clothes.
She has Marisol and Nicki now. At 3, I think they would have been a little large for her to carry around. The twins were perfect size.

You can't go wrong either way!:)

My dd is 5 and I was concerned that the big doll would be too big for her!! She is such a 'baby' doll girl. She actually looked at the bitty twins first, before she thought about the bigger ones. If she was 3 instead of 5, I would make the decision and get the twins for sure. I think she'll play with it (them) more if the size is comfortable for her.Just think-twice the fun!!
