My DD7 is in tears about going on a cruise without her AG Doll that she got for XMAS. I'm not sure it's a good idea to take the doll with us. Any other Mom's have experience with this? If we take the Doll won't she be left in the stateroom most of the time? I don't want to be stuck carrying the doll around with us when DD7 decides there are activities she wants to participate in...

Many girls bring the dolls...but as you said, she'll either be in the cabin or you'll end up carrying her. I would make a firm rule that she can't go to the Club--she'll get lost or messed up!

Our stateroom host used to leave her in various positions of waiting for DD to return. your server will provide a place at the table as well...but I don't recommend the doll around food.

Also...limit the "stuff." Doll + PJs is plenty!

We just returned today from our 7 night (turned 6 night) cruise aboard the Magic. DD6 brought Kit, her birthday dress, and her PJ's. I set a "no club" rule on the doll, which worked out fine. She was enthusiastic about having it with her on the plane, and even brought her down to dinner on the first night, but after that, the doll stayed in the room. DD played with her there, but that was it.

Cute story -- The second night I ran up to the stateroom in the middle of dinner to grab a sweater. Our stateroom attendent was in the room. DD left Kit on the pull-out sofa with all of the clothes laid out. Our attendent commented on the doll and remarked that it would be cute for the doll to be in her PJ's when DD returned. She asked if it would be alright if she changed the doll, and I said absolutely! DD was ecstatic when she got back to the room each night and saw Kit all ready for bed.

I always loved being able to bring my "lovies" on trips when I was a kid, so I let my kids do the same. Honestly, the cost of storing the toys is worth it for the comfort it brings them. Even though I'm sure they'll have a blast, anything this big and new is bound to be a bit scary at first...

Thank you all for your comments and input. I like the idea of the no going to the club rule, she would be devastated if her doll was lost or misplaced. Love the stateroom attendant stories. Thanks again :)

I am an AG dool collector and love all of my AG dolls ,but i would not advise taking youur DD's AG doll on the ship.Your DD will be to busy having fun on the ship to play with her doll.Plus doll's are not supposed to get wet ,and sun is not good for thier hair and skin!!

My dd6 wants to take her new doll, Kit. Her cousins are taking their dolls as well. We will enforce the no doll in the clubs rule. DD picked out two new dresses to wear in the evening on the cruise. Both came with a matching doll dress, and she is very excited. I think the excitement will wear off after a couple of days and Kit will spend the rest of the cruise in our stateroom.

I'm pretty sure DD #1 will bring one of her AG dolls because she sleeps with it every night. But just like it doesn't go places with her at home, it'll be staying in the cabin on the trip.

My DD4 took her AG doll as lots of her dinner dresses matched the dolls. We would take her for pics with the characters. Her doll also had princess and tink costumes custom made for her so it would have been really hard to leave her home. We also took her back to our stateroom for "naptime" when our DD went to club. She did have her at meals though. Our servers were great with it (we had an extra chair for doll! and she got her own placemat and hat made at character breakfast. . .) You are only young enough to love a dolly like that for a short time, totally worth it for me. The pics are priceless.

aside note, disney sells a line of dresses for their version of ag dolls at the pakrs. both my daughter and I have dolls and we bought the belle dress and the tinkerbell dress. I believe they had dresses for sleeping beauty, ariel, belle, tinkerbelle, and of course cinderella and possibly minnie as well. I don't know the number but I am sure someone can supply the mail order number for WDW and you can inquire about them. the outfits come with a dress, shoes, tiara, and wand. I think they run in the 20 dollar rage. just think how cool it would be for your dd to have a disney princess onboard besides her of course.

My DD got her AG doll from Santa on our Christmas cruise! She also got matching dresses for her and the doll and wore them to dinner Christmas night. It was so much fun :) We only took the doll for pictures and to dinner, otherwise she stayed in the cabin. DD loved it!
