OK, this is a weird question but I don't know who to ask! My DD has a Kit doll and I was cleaning up today and noticed some doll hair on the floor  . Believe me, my girls are OLD ENOUGH to know that these AG dolls are expensive! I am trying to figure out how much hair was cut :(.

Here's the million dollar question.....does Kit have hair this is longer on one side than the other in the front? Or did my girls just give her an assymentrical haircut. I truly could cry! I also found brown doll hair which would be my other DD's AG doll but I didn't find any noticeable missing hair on that doll. I found another area of missing hair on Kit, right in the front they chopped it down to about an inch in one spot. Right now I've packed ALL their AG stuff into a box and put them away....I'm FUMING mad at the moment.

As I said...my girls are NOT babies or toddlers. They are more than old enough to know better. They also, or so I thought, knew the value of these dolls and how they are lucky to have them. I'm trying to calm down before I figure out how big a lesson to teach them.

You know you can send them to the AG Hospital and they will rehair her (for a price, not sure how much). Check their site.

At least your kids are doing it to their dolls and not themselves. DD4 just gave herself her 2nd haircut! DD6 at the time, cut her long hair short- I cried and cried! Luckily, this one wasn't really noticeable, except to me!

My mom used to get mad too, when I wouldnt stop cutting my doll's hair - I had a Barbie with a mohawk, at one point.

I did go on to Beauty School - if youre wondering about possible career paths for them. :teeth:

If youre that concerned about them, then yeah - keep 'em put away.

Do your kids have this week off too?
If, I remember Kit has a curled under bob type cut.KIT is one of the AG dolls that DD doesnt have so I cant look at the doll for you. However, if the curled part of the bob is staightened, it could possibly be asymmetrical on the sides. Its a stretch but its a remote possibility.
Maybe check online for a picture.

Does this help?

LOL. I checked the online pic too but b/c the hair is pulled back in a barrette it's hard to tell LOL! I'm starting to mellow. They both did good chop jobs on their own hair when they were around the ages of 4 or 5. ALL of our barbies have been chopped at some point and they've given many a stuffed animal a haircut. BUT I have told them a million times to be kind to their AG dolls....they definitely know better.

MAYBE one of them will end up as a stylist. :rotfl: I have to say their cuts are pretty clean if nothing else....no jagged edges!!!

Thanks for the help! I was just SOOOO mad about 15 minutes ago. I've calmed a bit...which is lucky for them as they get off the bus in a little while!

Another poster already said this, but I was going to tell you that you can send Kit the American Girl hospital to fix her hair.

My DD received Elizabeth for Christmas (Felicity's friend) and I don't know how I would handle it if she cut her hair! She did spill some Sprite on her and I was not too happy.

Good Luck!

The more I clean the more doll hair I find....now I've found 4 different colors of "doll" hair. I can't even figure out what the one color is from  . I'm still angry, but I have to first figure out who the culprit is and that probably won't be easy. I guarantee that our good old friends "Not Me" and "I Didn't Do It" are going to be the responsible parties!

My only other concern is that I had two lboys here all day yesterday and our craft scissors were out on the desk. I suppose it is "possible" theoretically that one of them did this. I still honestly think it was my younger DD...I'll have to be sure to check HER hair too as she's been known to chop it. Matter of fact we JUST FINALLY grew in the nice cut she made in her hair about 7 months ago. My gut is that she is the one....we'll see! If she DID do it....we'll be taking her savings to send her sisters doll to get the hair fixed. That will be a hefty lesson to learn...this isn't going to be cheap :(.

I was a doll hair cutter when I was a kid. Boy, did I get into trouble!! Doll hair just doesn't grow back!!

But hey, this june I will be in business 23 years doing hair!! What can I say?! LOL

Good luck, we have Kit. I think her hair is a bit longer where it is pulled up into the barrette. Usually when cutting this style that is the way it is done.
