I might want to make a one-time purchase from the American Girl website.

If you sign up on the website, do they email you coupon codes?

No. It's pretty difficult to get a code for them unless it's a reward for spending a certain amount, a sale/advertised code, etc.

I shopped AG for years for my daughter. We're out of that stage now. Spent a lot of money at that store and NEVER received coupons. When I would see/read posts about others receiving coupons, I called AG. Was told that only new customers would receive a coupon. So, if you're new to AG, you have a better chance. I still receive emails from them. They just had a sale of up to 50% off but I think that has ended.

Call AG. Say you're a new customer and ask them to send you a catalog. In the past, the coupons were in the catalog.
