American Express question

I have heard that in order to use an American express card @ WDW you have to sign an agreement with them first? Is this true? MY DH has a corporate AmEx we may use while there. Experienced WDW travelers-how do YOU handle your $$$ at the park? I thought we'd have some cash, one of those AAA visa cards with our spending $$$ on it and of course our resort card for some purchases. We have the free dining. Any other ideas? We don't want everything on one card etc in case of theft. Any tips and advice appreciated!

Not sure where that Amex rumor started, but it's not true. you can use Amex or any other card Disney accepts just like anywhere else.

If you are staying at a WDW resort you can charge everything to your room, so your room card will be the only thing you need, plus some $$ for snacks.

If you lose your room card they will deactivate it and give you a new one.

We've been using our Discover card for years, leave an imprint at check in and have alittle cash for tips, cab fares etc, about 300.00. With our Discover card we get the 2% cash back bonus. Works great, we charge everything to the room, get an itemized bill under the door, express check out, and we've been to WDW over 35 visits and basically know what its going to cost us, even food and souviniors. One bill, one payment and a 2% discount.

The rumor about the Amex card is not true. Last year we used it and it was fine. As for spreading your wealth around WDW, I usually have the room card along w/ a few extra dollars. I dont like carrying any of my cards w/ me while I am there but if you dont have the cash and you want to use different cards, ask the cm if there is anyway to charge it on ur room key but to break up the bill when you check out. It might be possible as it was for us on a trip to the Bahamas..

Had no problem using my Amex when we went in April and October. I get rewards for using it and it was accepted whenever we tried to use it.

American Express used to be Disney's card of choice, now it's the Disney Visa. They still accept it.
