American Express Gift Cheque - where/how to use??

I won a $100 American Express gift cheque through an online contest a year ago, or so. The info it came with said it can be used for virtually everything, but I've never seen one of these before and don't know if I will get a hassle trying to use it. We are going to WDW in Dec. and I'd love the extra spending $ - does anyone know if I can use it there? Just curious if anyone has any experience with these things? Thank you, in advance

Why don't you just take it to your bank and try to cash it? Or, if you live near a Disney Store, take it to the store and buy Disney Dollars with it. Either way, you would have the cash to spend on your trip.

I get these all the time from work. You use it just like a travelers check, although alot of stores/vendors are not familiar with it, if you tell them it is like a travelers cheque they will understand. I have only ever had one store deny it and they claimed they would not take it since they did not take amex and felt it was amex related.

You can use it at Target, Walmart, etc. buy something small and then you will get the cash back. Also, you can use it at Disney for merchandise, food, etc., they view it like a travelers cheque and alot of hotels will let you "cash it" for cash.

You guys are awesome - I didn't expect a reply so quickly - thank you!! That's what I was hoping - that I could use it at the parks. We have the dining package and don't really buy many souveniers, but we are adding a couple extra days at our resort onto our Dec trip, so I will definitely use it towards that.

My husband got these from work quite a bit also and we saved them up and used them at Disney - I typically used them at the resorts at check in or in one of the shopping areas.

No problem at all!

Hubby and I each had $50 ones last year and I've received them and given them as gifts in the past. They can be used anywhere that American Express is accepted and as others said, you can cash them at your bank.

We used the ones we received last year during our Disney trip back in January. We considered them as part of our "dining fund" since we didn't get the dining plan. It was great because it was less cash that we had to worry about.
