American Doll clothes

Does anyone have a pattern they use for the 18" American Girl doll and Bitty Baby? Looked at the patterns at JoAnn's and nothing looked like it would be easy. I want to make some things and have my granddaughters help make clothes for their dolls. Any suggestions? Thank you
