American Airlines vouchers?

In my on-going quest to find the least expensive airfare from Rochester NY to Orlando, I had an Orbitz fare search that alerted me back in Feb to $125 RT airfare for my 12/06 trip. It was American Airlines, flying through Chicago, which is not the most straight-forward way to get to Orlando, but the price was right and the total trip time was 5-6 hours.

They then changed the schedule, adding a extra hour layover going out and coming back, making each leg almost 7 hours. That was just too much to take, so I called, and they were able to refund my money, but in the form of vouchers.

I was able to book AirTran for about $200 RT, but with much shorter flights (direct3hrs down, 1-stop 5 hours back)

Now, I've seen these vouchers sold on Ebay, and thought I could easliy do that - even if I didn't get face value. Now that I've looked at the vouchers, they state "Void if transferred/sold/purchased/bartered". It doesn't even look like I can give these away.

Does anyone have experience with these vouchers, and what I may do with them? Unless I fly out west, which I have no plans to, flying American just doesn't work for me.

Thanks!

Ok, vouchers are non transferable, but, if you go to their ticket offices or to the airport, they will issue a ticket under a different name. You have to bring a picture id to verify your identity and the voucher starts losing it's value a year after it has been issued.

Hope this helps!! :goodvibes
