Arguments like this are how we ended up with people needing green books to travel.

Also, “another state”? Who is paying for that?
Yes, and all of what is in that book is terrible, which is why the civil rights movement occurred and made America a much better place. Which pretty much proves my point that throughout our history of this country when a huge wrong is committed, we typically get to work to fix it. The same exact thing will occur pertaining to the issues you are most concerned about now in the LGBTQ+ community, but it won't happen overnight.

So, your perception is due to this law some underrepresented group could be refused treatment if they provider chose to refuse them. What would stop them from going to another provider or another state to a provider who was more sympathetic to their personal situation?
Insurance, costs, lack of transportation, etc., etc., etc.

Ah, the Civil Rights movement. A terrible example. THAT was certainly accepted with open arms by everyone across this great land, wasn't it? Sixty years later, we're still waiting for everyone to embrace it. When you say it won't happen overnight, you're not kidding!

But why must people make life difficult for others? Why does there always have to be 'well, they'll work hard to get themselves out of oppression or to find freedom and personal liberty and healthcare'?

Why has it taken 225 years plus for all people to be treated equal?
The US has great healthcare. Move to Canada or some other countries and you can see the difference.

Well, for the first hundred years people could be owned like chattel, so there's that....
There's been plenty, I'm glad it doesn't seem to affect you.
Guess he missed the George Floyd story.

If you don't watch the news much it's understandable that you'd not know of this. Or much else, for that matter.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm glad I was born in America. God bless America. 🇺🇲

I'll presume you're white, and ask you this very simple question: Would you like to be treated the way the country treats African-Americans? Would you trade places with one, right now? If not, why?

Jane Elliot tells it like it is:

Some of these responses are sad. Why must everything disolve into political arguments in a politics free zone. This "my view is the only correct one" without any understanding of any other viewpoints, is what is making threads like this sad. As several posts have said before, on most issues Americans are mostly moderates who want to see compromises. But I wonder how many on this thread could come up with realistic solutions to recommend to their representatives that would satisfy both sides and bring us closer together.

I think you're reading more into statements than what is there. No one is saying the US is perfect, or doesn't need to improve, or that everyone has an easy life. If they are, then *I'm* misreading their statements.

Let me ask YOU this... where in the world would you rather live?

And you, despite saying you were done, are continuing the "political" posts as you criticize others. Offering "realistic solutions" WILL bring 'politics' into play.

I hear Finland is ranked 2023's number one happiest county on earth.

"Rather" implies I want to move, which I don't. There are lots of places that better align with my ideal place: Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Australia, Canada, Denmark, etc.

Perhaps, in your allyship, you could use different language. "With one" doesn't sound like you are talking about a human being.
You're right. I could.

So you think there are places BETTER than the US?
