Anyone take ambein and experience severe muscle pain? I started taking it about 2 weeks and started having horrible muscle pain...this is the only thing I can trace back to change, other than my thyroid going from hypo to borderline hyper ( dr has lowered my synthroid). I was taking OTC sleep aids and I didn't notice the pain...just kinda stopped working, that's why I switched to ambien :confused3

Taking anything for cholesterol? That is a major side effect for some of those meds -- and something your doctor will want to know about immediately if that's the case.

I use to take Ambien for awhile and even though it did make me go to sleep I would get what I called Ambien amnesia. It would cause me to wake up in the middle of the night and do things, like eat or order things off Ebay and NOT REMEMBER any of it until the next day or a few days later. I have had items arrive in the mail that I never remember ordering. Thanks gawd I never tried to drive on Ambien. It got to be too much so I had the doctor switch me to Lunesta and have had ZERO side effects and it works wonderfully. I never had muscle pain with it though.

Yes. If I take it more than twice a month, I feel horrible. The worst is what it does to my feet. Doctor called it neuropathy, but would not agree it was from the Ambien. I know it is.
I have better luck and sleep longer with Benadryl.

Best to bring this up with your doctor. Ambien is a HARDCORE drug; it's no joke. Luckily, the worst side effect that I've ever had from it was waking up and doing weird things like posting on the internet, putting on different clothes, once I woke up with rings on every finger, etc... weird stuff like that. Some people sleep-shop and, goodness forbid, sleep-drive.

As to the Benadryl (diphenhydramine)... yeah, it gets you to sleep, but I know that personally I'm groggy as heck in the morning and never right for the rest of the day. I don't get a "hang over" from Ambien like I do with Benadryl.

Lunesta didn't work for me and just gave me a nasty taste in my mouth (a common side effect). Interesting how different drugs work for different people.

I had severe stomach and intestinal pain while on Ambien. I lost 30 pounds in six months while taking it. My doctor could find no reason for my pain or weight loss. He was sure it wasn't the Ambien. Once I stopped taking it, the pain when away and I stopped losing weight. Go figure!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to stop taking it and see if the symptoms go away. Going back to OTC and melontonin (?). The pain is unbearable at this point :headache:
