Amber's Get Healthy Journal (Comments Welcome)

Ok, so much for having an unbusy day!

On my way home yesterday there was a bad accident on the interstate which caused me to be about 25 minutes later getting home than usual. I went to the gym as soon as I got home. I did 27 minutes on the elliptical. :cheer2: I think I got a pretty good workout. I kept my heartrate in the target zone and sweated quite a bit!

Then when I got home I kept smelling something BAD. Finally we realized that it was the upright freezer that had quit working. So then we had to help clean it out and take the trash out to be picked up (thank goodness today is pickup day!) That didn’t take too long, but long enough to kind of mess up our evening.

We played w/ the kittens some too. They are SO frisky! They are doing excellent now w/ using the litter box. They have not had any accidents in 2 days! :cool1: Yippee! :cool1: Tonight we plan to let them hang out in the living room until either an accident occurs or we go to bed. Then if all goes well we will let them out of the bathroom permenantly on Friday night. :sunny:

Food-
B- mini wheats, milk, juice , No coffee! (I haven’t had any all week!)
S- reduced fat choc. Milk
L- HC manicotti, apple
D- paella
The paella is a recipe from my diet cookbook, but I am not sure the exact counts for it. I do know that when I finished lunch I was already at like 1170 calorie wise for the day. :furious: Argh! It is frustrating trying to be good! I know I shouldn't have had the chocolate milk. If I had left it out I would have been fine for the day. :sad2: The chocolate will get you every time!

Today so far-
B- oatmeal. We were out of milk so I made 2 packs of oatmeal to try and fill me up better. I only ate about 1.5, 2 is just Way too much!
S- 2 KITT ? candies

I haven’t had lunch yet, but will in a minute. It is paella, grapes, & carrots w/ ranch to dip. That shouldn’t be too bad.
Dinner is not yet fully planned for. Dh bought some bratwurst at the grocery store and suggested them. :rolleyes1 Yes, I know they aren’t healthy, but he loves them and hasn’t had them in a while. I will probably make them but I have NO idea what I will put w/ them. I guess I will think about it this afternoon.

We are going to the gym tonight and I plan to jog.
Have a great day! :sunny:

Oh, Yeah, I keep forgetting to say that I weighed myself on Tuesday. I went to my parent's house and weighed on their scales which is where I have been measureing from. Then I went to the gym and weighed on those scales.
At my parent's I was : 192.5 :cheer2: :woohoo:
At the gym I was : 190.5

So the gym is off by about 2 pounds. I am not sure yet if I will skip to their scale or not. It will probably be more convient to switch.

I am not sure what my last recorded weight was but I think I was in the high 190's. :confused3 I am hoping that I am really at 192 and that it wasn't just a low day! That would be so Awesome! I am really ready to jumpstart again and start really seeing some progress! Maybe this is the beginning! :sunny:

:hippie: woo-hoo congrats on the wiehgt loss! Sounds like you are doing really great!

I can spell weight, really I can, I just cant type very well.

OT, but I just wanted to tell you that I thought of you when we were having dinner at finnigans at universal. They had sheperds pie. I didnt get it , I got fish and chips instead but they had these things called scotch eggs and they were so good!

:goodvibes :hippie:

Hey, Linda! :wave2: Glad you are back! That is funny that you thought of me while on vacation because of food :rotfl: What are scotch eggs? That sounds odd. I started reading your TR it is great so far! I can’t wait to read the rest! :3dglasses

Well, I didn’t do so good last night. :guilty: We had some pretty good storms down here that started about 4pm. When I got home it was raining pretty hard. I knew that if I went to the gym I would be inside, but I just didn’t feel like dealing w/ the rain getting there and coming home. I was really feeling worn out from the busy week also. I decided that I most likely wasn’t going to the gym. Then my cousin showed up w/ her 3 girls and 3 of their friends. They all wanted to see the kittens, so I was glad I didn’t go to the gym. They had a blast playing w/ the kittens, and I don’t think the kittens minded too much either ;) . The youngest little girl kept holding Puff and Puff wasn’t real keen on that.

For dinner last night - 1.5 bratwursts on wheat bread, baked potato w/ butter & sour cream, salad
Ok, so I thought I was right on target at 1231 calories yesterday, but just now when I was writing down dinner I realize I forgot to record my bread. So that adds 103 cals bringing my total to 1334. Still not too bad, but still not hitting the target of 1200. This is Way hard!

Today I am going to say in advance probably won’t be an on target day…. But I will do my best to keep it as low as possible. Aiming for maybe 1400-1500 calories today.

So far-
B- oatmeal (still out of milk) = 153 cal

The good thing about not having milk is that I don’t take in as many calories and fat at breakfast. The bad thing about not having milk is that I don’t stay full as long.

Well, gonna try to make it til lunch! Have a great Friday everyone! :cheer2:

Amber - awesome job on the exercise!! way to go!!! And welcome to the world of parenthood!!! Things get easier over time, I promise!!

Congrats on the weight loss too! Exercise and better eating just works it's magic!!

Have a great weekend!

Congrats on the loss!!! keep up the great work!!!
Also, have fun w/ the kittens!! I have a 6 yr old cat and she is....well, let's just say she has her own personality!! she LOVES to cuddle, as long as it's on HER terms!! I keep threatening to give her away, but everyone knows i'm full of it!!

How is the house coming?

Hi, guys! Thanks for the support!
I have a picture of each of the kittens and the house progress from about 2 weeks ago. They are on the web at this site: atl1.america.net/~tpeacock/index.html It is only a temporary site so I will try to remember to post an update when we move them and/or add more. The house has come a good bit further since that pic. We now have the second floor started. Maybe I can get an update pic sometime this week.

I can't believe I have been away from here for 2 days! Time flys!

Friday -
b- oatmeal
l- subway turkey sub
s- grapes
d- red lobster grilled shrimp skewer, grilled shrimp in garlic sauce, rice, mashed potatoes, salad, biscuit
s?- 2.5 smirnoff ice
Ok, so the day started off good and I left myself a good margin of calories for dinner. I did at least get grilled and not fried at Red Lobster, but then I am sure that I was still over in calories. Then I decided to drink. :rolleyes1 At least it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Saturday-
Took kittens to vet. They got their vaccines and the vet says they have tapeworms, so we got some meds for that.
Shopping for a bathing suit was harder than I expected. Nobody seemed to have many left to choose from. I found a nice one piece that I like it kind of has a belt and it zips up the front.

No exercise cause we spent most of the day shopping and dealing w/ the cats.

L- sandwich, grapes
s- chocolate caramel latte :rolleyes1
d- hamburger w/ feta cheese "spread" (dh's concoction), broccoli & cauliflower salad

Today-
b- cereal w/ milk
l- sandwich, broccoli & cauliflower salad, chips
s- 1 hobnob (british cookie)
d- On the Border - empanada, taco, lots of chips and salsa, bite or two of rice and refried beans....... half a slice of Kahlua ice cream pie

We went to White Water today and took my parents (for Father's day). It rained a bunch. We did get to ride most everything, then they shut it down and we got rain checks so that my parents can go back. No official exercise but lots of walking and stairclimbing.
Then we went to this store called World Market and looked around for awhile. Then to Rooms-To-Go outlet. We spent almost 2 hours in there looking at sofas mostly. Dh & I will need living room furniture once the house is finished. What we would love is a reclining loveseat. They had several that we liked and for really good prices.
Dinner was w/ my parents also and dad wanted dessert so Dh & I got some too. I did bring home more than half of my meal and will eat it for lunch tomorrow.

My calories were probably ok yesterday, but not so good today and friday. Today probably balanced out because of all the exercise at White Water. I will do good this week though I promise!

I have to get back on top of my exercise routine!! I really miss it, but it just seems like I have been so busy lately.
I am going to do my very best to get to the gym tuesday, wednesday, thursday, and saturday of this week! I can and will do this! :cheer2:

I will try to get around to some more journals this week. I had the crazy idea that I would visit some over the weekend, but that was a flop  I should have a bit of time this week though here and there. Have a great week everyone!

Hey amber. I think white water is probably pretty good exercise. I am usually a little sore after going to one of those places, so that is my exercise barometer, sore=exercise. I bet it was fun too, that s a bonus. You must be getting really excited about th house now! :hippie:

Yep, I think White Water is pretty good exercise, especially when we get a whole day of it. I probably could count some of it for my exercise challenge, but there is No chance that I'm gonna come even close this month. Oh, well.

The house is coming along Excellently! They have gotten the top floor framed out! It is so awesome to see! Dh is currently working on putting some new pics on the site I posted yesterday, so stop by and check it out when you get a chance. :sunny:

Today's food
b- mini wheats, milk, juice
l- 4 or 5 bites of fried chicken, potato chips, potato salad, 2 wheat rolls (they provided lunch at work today  I pretty much had to eat it cause we had a meeting while we ate)
d- chicken & stir fry vegetables in an indian tikka sauce over couscous (dh's concoction
totals - cal- 1507, fat- 52 :sad2: dinner wasn't too bad it was really lunch that did me in.

No exercise. I had to go to the chiropractor again. I will go tomorrow though.

Have a good night! :wave2:

hey amber...just checking in. Glad to hear the kittens are doing good, and that the house is coming along. i took my cat to the vet last week...$140.00 for vaccines!! that's more than for my Rottie!!
good luck at the Chiro and at exercise tomorrow!!

marie

Hi, Marie! :wave2: Yep, the kittens are costing us a pretty penny. We decided to go w/ the Petsmart Wellness plan. It was $100 up front and $20 a month for each kitten  but it covers all vaccines, office visits, 2 dewormings and their spay surgeries. It lasts a year, then we can renew, but don't have to pay the initial fee again.

Today's food-
b- oatmeal, milk
l- subway turkey sub, baked ruffles, tea
s- slimfast candy bar
d- italian veggie spaghetti sauce w/ whole wheat rotini pasta
totals- cal-1286, fat- 34

exercise- went to the gym today. I did a 5 minute warmup. Then the first mile I did some jogging. Completed it in 14:20! :cheer2: Decided to try speedwalking since Everyone including my chiropractor keeps saying I shouldn't jog :p I started out doing 4.1 mph and did that for about 5 minutes then went down to 3.9 for a couple of minutes. I went back to 4.1 for about 3 more and then finished out the mile at 3.9. I ended the second mile in 15 minutes! :woohoo: And I thought I couldn't walk a fifteen minute mile! I was having some trouble w/ my heartrate today. It kept being really high and by the end of my second mile it was starting to wear me out. Plus my shoes were really bothering me today. So for the last mile I slowed down to 3.8 for 5 minutes and then gradually slowed down from there. I finished the 3rd mile in like 17 minutes. I didn't count my warmup in my mileage. I think it was about a third of a mile. My total time was 55 minutes! :cheer2:

Tomorrow they are having a taebo class and I am going to try to go to that. I'll let you know how it goes.

Have a great night! :sunny:

Been a crazy busy week at work. I finally got certified and they told me that I should find out soon what county I will be working in.

Had our 4th of July thing at work yesterday so I ate bad. Had a good dinner though. I went to the taebo class at the gym. It was 45 minutes, but kind of stop and start. It was only the second class and he was trying to go easy on everyone. I also did the stair climber when i finished class. I managed to do a whole 10 minutes on it! :cheer2: I kept it on level 5 and did not even attempt to go any faster though. I was sweating BIG TIME!!

Today was not a good food day. Had to eat out for lunch cause of work related stuff. Then I didn't get home until 8:30, so no exercise. Dh decided that he wanted to go out for dinner tonight also, since he will be on call tomorrow night. So Very BAD food day! :guilty: And bad exercise day :guilty: I did walk up and down the courthouse stairs in high heels all day.... does that count ;)

Well, gonna try to chill out some and prepare for tomorrow. It has been an emotional week at work and I have a feeling tomorrow could be even worse :sad2: Luckily I should be able to get off early tomorrow. :goodvibes

See ya! :sunny:

I cant figure out how to get to that site you posted. Is it www in front or what? I keep trying :confused3

never mind I found it. cute cats...I didnt realise you were such a nerd tho (ravenclaw and hufflepuff???) :rotfl2: Actually really good cat names. :thumbsup2 I will check the incoherent ramblings again for updates. The house is looking good too! Its so exciting isnt it? :hippie:

Yes, Linda I am a nerd and proud of it! :sunny: (LOVE my Harry Potter! ) I actually don't think that I was as much of a nerd until I met my Dh. He is a BIG nerd!..... He says half nerd, half rebel ;) If you couldn't tell, the website is actually his website and him "talking".

We have our roof planks up now! We are really stoked now! We are supposed to be doing the site cleanup  What were we thinking! We haven't had time to work on it as it has been coming along. We went out today to clean up and it is a Huge mess! Cans and trash everywhere plus all of the small pieces of lumber everywhere. We worked at it for about 2hours in the Billion degree heat! We got most of it cleaned up but there are a lot of things we are unsure about what to do with. So we decided to call the builder and find out if we can just pay the difference to have them do clean up from here on out. It is just not worth our time since we are so limited in free time these days.

I think I will count one hour for our work today because it was Seriously labor intensive!

So far today all I have had to eat is leftover spagetti and LOTS of water!

Yesterday was a bad diet day! I didn't eat well at all and I got NO exercise.
I finally finished with all of my training and got my new assignment. I will be going to my new county as of Monday. I didn't find out until Friday morning though! I was kind of upset. It was SO sudden and most everyone was out of the office, so I didn't even get to say goodbye. The new county is about 40 miles from my house too, so I have to drive even further now! :sad2: I couldn't argue about my placement though because they just cut a lot of positions and don't have any other position to offer me. I am hoping it won't be too bad though. It is a bigger town than I had been working in which is a plus. Also Dh works near there so we can meet for lunch sometimes.

We don't have anything special planned for 4th of July, but we have a family reunion next weekend. After the reunion, Dh, my parents, my sis from KY, and I will be going to Florida. Dh and I will come back on that Wednesday. I am excited to be going to the beach! :woohoo: I really feel the need for a vacation these days!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! :sunny:

Hi nerd-girl! Hope you are having a good weekend.

When they built my house site clean-up was either bull-dozing the stuff under ground or burning it. So if you dont have a bulldozer, that s a lot of burning. Probably a good plan to just add it in. It will probably increase your mortgage by 3 cents or something like that!

Hey you!

Glad to see things are progressing with the house...and not so glad to see that extra commute time :( At least you don't sit on I-75 for an hour and a half each day (like me) ;)

And what an awesome job you're doing with the exercise!!! Your miles are getting quicker and quicker and you are really mixing up the workouts as well!! I'm proud of how far you've come along!

Have an awesome 4th of July!!
