Sometimes these are just a joke. I waited for one for 90 minutes watching the countdown clock turn from 0:01 to start (and had my mouse over the where the box comes up clicking as it came up). It showed "add to cart" and after clicking, it showed "waitlist full" in less than a second. Ridiculous. Don't advertise a sale if you don't have any to sell!

I had awesome luck with lightning deals today! Tried for 12, got all but one.

The thing is there clearly were none at that price. It went immediately to "waitlist full" as I clicked when the clock went from 0:01 to "add to cart." Yet the same item is available from Amazon (not a third party) at the regular price.

This was my experience last year. Totally agree with you!!

I think you have to remember that there are 5,000 other people, or even 50,000, or more, also hovering over that space waiting to click. If Amazon has 10,000 Brave Blurays to sell at a deal price, and 50,000 people want one, they're not all gonna get the deal.

I'm just going to give my two cents here. A loved one currently works for said company, and I used to. They have them and they are shipping them out. A previous poster hit it on the head when they said you have to remember there are thousands of others who are sitting with their mouse hovering over the same deal like you waiting for the time to come to click. That's just the way it goes. :confused3 Keep trying, that's all I can say. Good luck!:)

Might I add, that it's kind of the same thing as going out to Walmart or Best Buy on Black Friday for their doorbusters or whatever. They only have a said amount of tv's or whatever the item is they are offering. A good example was a Walmart ad I heard last night about their tvs they had for the black friday deal. They said they promise them by Christmas, meaning they probably only have like ten in each store or whatever and everyone else is getting a raincheck. So, it's the luck of the draw there too.

I agree it is the same even when going to the store. I went to Walmart at 5am needing a new coffee pot and to see if there was a possibility they would have the movie Brave. They had some Brave DVD's on the shelf at full price but none left for the promo price. I also noticed that they hardly got much of anything in stock this year. I talked to a couple workers who all said they were surprised at how little they got of some things that they have gotten a too much of in past years. I always get a new coffee pot on Black Friday and they always have pallets full of them for weeks after Black Friday and this morning they had 3 left and that was it nothing in stock in back either. All I cared about is that I missed the mob and had I not gotten the coffee pot or the movie I guess I just waited too long.

luck of the fast fingers i say.

for me, it's much less stress and worth it to just seek out the best price elsewhere and buy it. Today they had BBT for $8.99 for the dvd but yesterday i got the dvd/blu=ray combo at Best Buy for $16.99--now i can have one and so can ds. ALso, i think you can only buy ONE of the lightning deals which is fine unless you have THREE children who want an etch=a=sketch.

I have had awesome luck with the lightning deals and black friday price matching this week on Amazon. I am a true believer. Keep trying.

I agree that they do have some but not always very many.

To some extent you are dependent upon the speed of the internet data transfers between your endpoint and Amazon's servers. Some people get access to that "Buy" button a little quicker than others and when it is a hot deal that makes all the difference.

I bought a video game last night and it came up as 8% gone the instant I gained access to click buy. There were obviously people who were able to click a little bit before I got the ability.

Okay so I made it in time for a deal the clock was ticking down I still had plenty of time left but once I got into the checkout process it went back to the regular price! I got out & back in & tried it again & the same thing happened. I didn't want to pay double the price I thought maybe the time was up. So I started looking through more lightening deals. A couple minutes later the time expired! WTH? I did a google search & found others are having the same problem!

How long did you leave it in your cart? You only have I think 15 minutes to checkout at the lightning price, regardless of how much time is left on the deal.

It shows regular price in the cart but when you look at the total box (over on the right hand side upper corner) there is a discount line that takes the price down to the lightning deal price. This is the area that will also show your taxes and shipping charges, if any.

I was waiting for the clock to click down for a $25 video game and as soon as the sale went live I clicked. They were out of stock and I was number 500 plus on the waitlist.

I have heard people say they've had good luck joining the waitlist for those deals, but you need to leave the screen open, bc once they offer it to you from the waitlist, you have only 3 minutes to respond. That means you could be sitting by your computer for the whole 3 some odd hours the sale is live waiting to see if you get offered something from the waitlist.

On a happier note, I was able to buy the same $25 game from Walmart with the pick up at store option.

I bought Ironman on DVD for $1.96 over an hour after the sale started! I guess it really depends on the popularity of the item. I don't believe it is a gimmick though.
