My sweet neighbor had the offer also and wasn't going to use it so she bought it for me and now both kids will be getting kindle fires for Christmas! Because there are two separate offers, you can use both in two transactions. I also got the paperwhite for my husband for Father's Day. I spent $134 for both. That's $5 cheaper than just the fire price!

I got this offer! I couldn't convince DH that we needed any of these things ( our family of 4 (kids are almost 4 and 8) has 3 iPads, 3 iPhones, 2 iPods and a Nintendo DS) and I passed the info onto family and friends - but no takers! Feel a little bad not buying it! I almost picked up the kindle for toys for toys donation even!

You should call customer service and explain your plight. It might be a known issue with that specific kindle. Even if they won't replace it for free, they may offer you a discount on a different one. I've never had anything but great experiences with their c.s.

I was so excited. I have a Nook HD which I absolutely love but its pretty much useless at the beach...so I was going to get a simple touch next time they went on sale but how can you beat free. I have a huge library on my Nook already so I'll probably stick with that for most of my reading. I figure I'll load the books I can get at the library onto the Kindle.

I agree, no offer for me either. But I should expect it by now, because I never get pin codes from Disney either. (My whole family gets them every few months but I never do). I never get special offers for things I actually intend to use.

The paperwhite screen "glows" so you can easily read it in the dark. But it's also a higher contrast screen. At that price, definitely get the paperwhite....I wish I got the offer.

I think the difference is a touch screen that has a backlight to read in the dark compared to no light. The paperwhite is probably easier on your eyes. I'm glad to see there are some of you that have been able to get this deal as well!
