Amazon/JK Rowling book

Amazon were the buyers of JK Rowling's hand written book.
They paid £1.9m. I could think of better things to buy with that amount of money.

To be fair to Amazon and JKR the money went to her charity, The Children's Voice.

For Amazon it is a bargain. The publicity they get from something like this is better than a TV ad. How much would a series of TV ads cost? probably a similar amount of money. A run of TV ads would probably just go out and forgotten about, something like paying £1.9m for a book sticks in peoples minds and you remember the company name. They also still have the book which who knows could sell for a profit in 5 years.
So £1.9m is cheap

It is a very nice item. I hope they put it up for sale on their website and put the decimal point in the wrong place, I would pay upto £1900.00

I doubt they'll say who got the other books as they could be a target for theft if they did.

Amazon are apparantly going to take the book on tour round schools and libraries which I think is a really nice idea.
