my predicament I got a gift card for my birthday but my grandmother just gave me money for a kindle and so I want to use that vrs the gift card my dad gave me can I request amazon charge my credit/debt card vrs the gift card

I am guessing that you are talking about a future order, and not an order that you already placed. In that case, as long as you don't use one-click purchasing, you can choose any of the payment methods in your Amazon account (or add a new one) for each individual purchase. My husband and I share an account, and I always select my card for my purchases, and he selects his for each of his purchases, it is very easy.

"Kindle" is a brand name for a line of tablet and e-reader products, like "Ford" is a brand name for a bunch of different kinds of autos. There are many different products with the Kindle name:

Kindle Paperwhite
Kindle Fire
Kindle Fire HD
Kindle E-Reader
Kindle Voyage
Kindle Oasis

You have to read the descriptions of each one. I think the ones with Fire in the name are the tablets, and the others are e-readers.

You don't have to apologize, Tink. Just be who you are.

Ignore those who criticize you for your grammar and punctuation. They can move on if they don't understand what you are asking. There are plenty of people who do understand, and can reply.

I believe that what you are looking for is a Kindle E-reader, from the Amazon website these are classified as E-readers:
Kindle Paperwhite (this is my favorite)
Kindle
Kindle Voyage
Kindle Oasis

The Kindle Tablets are the Kindle Fires

It took me a bit of searching, but I finally found a link to the Amazon return page. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=15015721

From personal experience, I can tell you that they are pretty strict about how many days you have to return an item. If you go into your Amazon order history, there should be a link somewhere in the summary that tells you the last day that the item can be returned to Amazon for any kind of credit or refund.

Kindle Fire
Either this one or the HD is now called Amazon Fire (maybe to avoid confusion with the Kindle e-readers as a whole?

The previous generation of the Amazon Fire will be on sale on Prime Day with a $20 discount, so potentially as la as $39.99.

I have one of these, which I'm relatively happy with. I'd probably be happier if I hadn't dropped it a couple of times :D. My neighbor is now on her fourth Fire of the current generation. Okay, one was delivered and disappeared before she picked it up - large apartment building with a few less than honest residents - but she's exchanged two of them in the last month. I forget the problem with the first one she sent back; the second stopped working after a week; and I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks, so I don't know how she's doing with the current one.

I don't know if Amazon is putting any of the ereaders on sale.

I love my Kindle Fire. Had it for years now.
Got DH a Fire for Christmas a couple years ago. He loves it
Got DGD a Fire to have for traveling (she's 3). Games on it keep her busy for hours.
Great investment.

I have always found Amazon's customer service great.
They have helped me figure out problems with my e-reader and Fires several times over the year.

Don't want to confuse you....don't worry, doesn't take much to confuse ME! LOL

IF you have your Amazon Gift Card registered for your payment and want to purchase something and NOT use your gift card, make sure you do not hit "buy with 1-click" as that will take it off your gift card. Also, when checking out, your gift card will be listed as payment ways and you need to uncheck that box so the gift card used. You hit the "change payment method" on your check out screen. I believe that is under the address section.

Do you plan on using your kindle as your reader? If so, and you purchase books through amazon for your kindle, the only way to purchase them is "buy with 1-click" so your gift card or credit/debit card will be charged.

I hope this makes sense. Feel free to ask any questions.

Yes it does thank you

I hope you are able to find a good deal and enjoy your purchase! I have both a Kindle Fire HD mostly for traveling and watching Hulu/Netflix etc., and also a Kindle paperwhite for reading ebooks. I enjoy them both, but obviously for different things.
