Amazon delivered, not there?

They left out Wii without anyone signing for it. I am so glad the sprinklers were off!

Well...I live about 20 miles south of Dayton...we have had a rash of robberies where UPS is concerned. Apparently the thieves watch the trucks "LEAVE" items on a porch with no one home. Then they move in for the kill and steal the boxes that are left. What *******s..! I cannot imagine the frustration of these folks having their Christmas boxes stolen.

There is a special place in he!! for them....

Does UPS EVER have you sign anymore?????

I ordered about $500 of American Girl stuff that came on 2 seperate days. Both times, I was home and when I stepped outside to leave I found the boxes by my door! I was home and they didn't even knock on my door. I would really have appreciated the opportunity to bring my order into my home so I could make sure that it was safe.

It just seems like really bad customer service to just dump stuff on door steps.

I really hope you find your wii. It is pretty small so it may be in a smaller box than you are expecting.

You might live in a driver release area or the company that was shipping did not require a signature. If the guys had to keep everything on their truck that people were not home to sign for they would be carrying around the same stuff for days and make shipment time as a whole slow down quite a bit.

Jeez, I feel like we hit the UPS jackpot. Our driver is terrific. We have a covered porch, but he puts everything in our garage door, which is set back a ways.

We have no doorbell, but he lets out a whistle when he drops stuff in the garage so we know when he comes. Really nice guy.

Of course, like I said, he delivers here often. And in the summer when he comes and I am outdoors, I always offer him a bottled water or can of pepsi. :)

...and they *would not* come get it. They told me not to worry about it, just keep it and that when the people didn't get it, they would contact amazon and have another one sent :sad2:
So I looked in the phone book and just called the real recipients and they drove over to get it.

Wow. Talk about a UPS rep who has learned the wrong thing to do! I mean, yeah, amazon will do that, but UPS is also supposed to take some action there!

On the other hand, when I was an amazon CS rep, I cautioned people to NEVER do what you did, because you just have no clue what sort of people you're going to deal with. Same goes for the people missing a package who figure it out and go looking for it...just no idea who's going to answer the door and what trouble you might find yourself in!

If that happened with me, I would have let amazon know that a package had gone missing (they can use the tracking number to look up the order number), they would have likely send ME a return label to slap on and hand over to a UPS person, and then I would have contacted UPS (probably a manager when I drove out to send that package back) and gone up the chain to let them know what their reps were saying... (and also let the amazon rep know, so they can kick that higher to the specialized UPS reps that amazon people can call)

I spoke to Amazon and they said that because WII is a hot item they are requiring signature delivery for the WII.

We got our Wii from Amazon delivered by UPS on the 18th. I was home at the time, and it was still just dropped off by the front door. No knock on the door or ringing the doorbell, and definitely no signature collected. Either Amazon is really not requiring a signature, or UPS is just not doing its job.

I also had a DHL package that came a couple days later. The tracking info said it was on the truck and scheduled for delivery Friday, but it didn't make it -- DHL didn't deliver it until Saturday. I hate DHL and never choose them for my packages, but at least in this case the driver did ring the doorbell to let us know it was here.

We live in a very small apartment our bedroom window is on the porch as is the front door, right next to each other. Well I can't tell you how many times I hear my porch door open and think who the heck is that, only to see no where there but a load of packages...UPS does knock, ring or even say "hello". =o(

I watched a UPS man THROW a bag out his door, with the truck still rolling, with two boxes at the end of my driveway this morning. I understand that they are under a LOT of pressure today, but to THROW it at the END of my driveway!? I checked the tracking # online and his notes were, "left at side door". Ya... right.

I guess we are lucky with our driver. He either leaves things under our carport right at the side door, or he drops them off at dh's work. I know that saves him some time since dh works right as you come into town, and we live in a subdivision on the other side of town, but it helps up out too. The kids never saw alot of the boxes, so no questions have been asked!

Our UPS person always leaves our stuff up against a wall that you can't see from the street on our porch. He/she rings the doorbell and leaves. I did have a package delivered to our house once that was the same house number but one street up from ours. Other than that, no problem with the driver.

Now, USPS -- man what a mess that is! The Christmas cards I mailed out in December of '06 never arrived to anyone. They all showed up out of the blue just a few weeks ago one year later!!! They were postmarked twice from my city -- one time in Dec. '06 and once in Dec. '07. I also get the wrong mail all the time, which usually belongs to one of the neighbors on either side of us or directly across the street, including mail-in voting ballots for general elections! One time our mailbox was full of bundled mail (all rubberbanded together). It was all of the mail for our entire block. The postal guy just put all of them in our box (about 50 pieces of mail)! DS and DD went with me around the the block delivering everyone's mail to them. He must have really been in a hurry that day to just put the whole bundle of mail our mailbox.

wowsers....well I'm shocked at the UPS stories.

Our UPS guy always leaves the stuff under our porch if we aren't there. At Df's apartment, they leave a note on the door to call.

Hugs...I hope you find a wii....and I'd complain to amazon.com some more about that wii, maybe they can do something to compensate? When they "accidently" canceled my Wii order I got a $50 promo code out of it...got Wii Play for Free

We have a GREAT UPS delivery driver, she makes every attempt to deliver things so the kids don't see them...etc. She backs up our long drive way and even helps me hide the larger items in our tool shed LOL She's great, I gave her a gift basket and gift card for Christmas :)

Speaking about strange deliveries though. I ordered a very small order from ChefsCatalog.com a few weeks ago (it was just some waffle mix and pure maple syrup that you can't buy locally). Well, when FedEx Delivered that day, there were 2 ChefsCatalog Boxes.??? I opened them and there were two really expensive looking pedestal bowls, italian labels...etc. I called and the guy kind of laughed and said that they'd put the wrong shipping label on it, and he'd have FedEx pick them back up. He said "one of those bowls cost more than your whole original order".....ummm, well thanks!!!

I never received a thank you, nothing....and had I not forced the box on the FedEx guy when he delivered another item we'd ordered, he would have forgotten to pick it up LOL I looked up the bowls and they were 45.00 a piece. I wonder who was missing those???? LOL

My boss had a meat/cheese thing delivered one Christmas from a Dr we refer to and UPS left it at his front door under the bush, they never used the front door! He found it in the spring when they were cleaning up the yard.

one year we received 2 boxes delivered by UPS. one from our relatives and one that should not have been delivered to us (it was packed up and addressed to us by the UPS store). well, christmas eve, we were on the phone to UPS to no avail. we finally (somehow) got the phone # of the people the package was to go to (yes, can you believe the UPS store actually gave it to us). to make a long story short, we got the package to the family, but when DH called them to sort it all out, they never once a thank you or that they appreciated our honesty and that we were so willing to help. instead, they just wanted us to get their package to them that evening (like it was our fault we had it in the first place). in hindsight, i wondered why we spent our christmas eve trying to get that package to a family who was so unappreciative. yes, it stung a bit as we spent a good deal of time dealing with this issue rather than enjoying our own christmas eve with our family. can you tell i am still a bit appalled at these people. :rotfl:

i just had the worse case with fedex, i will never buy anything again that ships with fedex. Two years ago I was eagerly expecting something being delivered by UPS. I was washing dishes, and there was a big window over the sink in that apartment, so I was watching. I also had the computer on the tracking page, and had been feverishly refreshing the page all day. I saw the UPS truck pull up and stop in the parking lot. He didn't actually park in a spot, but that was normal. It was a rainy, miserable day. I watched the truck, and never saw the driver get out (I couldn't see the driver b/c I was on the "wrong" side of the truck, but I would have seen him if he got out). I never even saw the truck move as though he went in back to find a package. DH was in the living room, which was right off the kitchen, and they were open to each other. The couch DH was sitting on was maybe 4 feet from the door.

Then the driver left and I went ballistic. 5 minutes later when I refreshed, yet again, it showed that he had "attempted delivery".

The UPS place heard from me, both on the phone and in person when I had to take my infant out in the nasty weather to get the package. No one seemed surprised, though...
