I ordered a WII from Amazon.com a few days ago. I got a delivery confirmation letter on Wednesday telling me that it had been shipped out.
I checked the site a few minutes ago and it said the item had been left at my front door at 2:15 today. I just checked and there is nothing at my front door.
I was out shopping till around 5 and when I got home the neighbor brought over some flowers that had been delivered to his house because I wasn't home but nothing else. I always come in the back door and the neighbor saw me drive up the driveway.
It is too late now to go ask the neighbor but I am sure if she brought over the flowers she would have brought over the package too.
What do I do? who do I contact, UPS or amazon.com? It doesn't say anything on the delivery confirmation site other than it had been left at the door.

I would contact both ASAP. But first check all the way around your house, under the carport in garage, back patio. I think that comment is standard for the drivers and just a 1-push to enter a note, maybe the first choice. Usually there is local UPS number you can call in the phone book or call the 1-800 number and ask for the local office, ask for a supervisor right away.

one more note, I once had something similar happen to me, a note on the
website saying it was delivered and it was not. I waitied and sure enough a few hours later the package showed up. It was like maybe the driver marked it as delivered before he ever got to your house for some reason. Maybe he was supposed to be in your area and he wasn't, maybe he just did his paperwork/computer work early??? I just know it did happen to me. I got a package delivered last night at about 9:45 Pm so just go out and check, it may be there now and you don't even realize it.

I am sorry this has happened. Hope you get it worked out, please keep us posted. Merry Christmas.

Definitely check every single bush, every nook and cranny the driver might have seen. Check the back door if you have one, look under the porch if you have one and there's access underneath.

Especially if you have snowy weather, look look and look somemore!

I worked in customer service at amazon, and you wouldn't believe where UPS drivers hide things. And sometimes things put behind big fluffy bushes in the summer aren't found until the winter when the leaves are gone...and sometimes things left in the snow in coooold areas aren't found until it thaws.

And sometimes sneaky people in neighborhoods make off with things!

And also, sometimes, UPS drivers manage to leave things at wrong houses, so call UPS and see if they have record of exactly where they left it, and also be sure to ask amazon to call *their* UPS specialists who might be able to find that info.

Good luck! I really hope it's easily found, b/c I can't imagine it would be easy for amazon to send out another one of those, if they're out of stock. :(

Oh, by the way, things at amazon might have changed, but if UPS tells you to "put a trace on it" and amazon says to not do that, trust amazon. Traces, from my training and experience there do almost nothing, take ages, and amazon will want to take care of you as quickly as possible, rather than just make you wait on a trace. But things might have changed, so if amazon says to do that, go with their new info...just wanted to give you a head's up on something you *might* hear from UPS. :upsidedow

i rec'd 3 packages from UPS yesterday (1 Omaha steaks, 1 cheesecake  , & 1 plain brown pkg).
DS brought them in, & i was all excited until i realized i had only 1 outstanding christmas order left (victoria's secret).........
yup, all 3 were my neighbors' (who were home) :sad1:

brought them all over immediately (the cheesecake was the hardest :lmao: )........
so check with ALL your neighbors. if misdelivered & unopened, they might not even realize they have an "extra" package :santa:

Check with all your neighbors. I bought a spotbot from them and I saw the truck on our block and checked the website and it said it was delivered. It wasn't so I e-mailed them. They said they would send me out another one. A few days later someone from down the block (that I don't even know) rang our bell and had my spotbot. The next day I got the replacement. They told me to refuse the delivery and it was returned to them.

I don't know why it took the people down the block 2 days to bring it up to me. If I get a wrong delivery I take it to the correct house immediately.

Do what the other posters have said to do.
Also, I had it happen where Fed Ex marked delivered to garage and it definetely wasn't in the garage. After numerous phone calls, it turns out the driver decided to call it quits early that day and marked the rest of his route delivered and then delivered the the next day.

Hope you have some Good luck finding it.

That happened to me once. It said it was delivered, but wasn't. It actually arrived the next day.

I think some of the UPS drivers scan stuff that does not need to be signed for early. Our driver knows us well (we buy ALOT online since we live in the middle of nowhere) and knows he puts it in our garage. He gets here at about 4-5 pm when he delivers. If I check tracking on the day of delivery, 9 times out of 10, it is marked as delivered by 1.

I also suggest checking with all of your neighbors. We live in a duplex on a farm, where someone is always around (the barn is literally 10 feet from the back of the house). Fed Ex seems to always leave our stuff with the woman across the street and 1/4 mile down the road, rather than with the farm office 20 feet from our door. Not sure why. :confused3

Why in the world wouldnt something this expensive and 'hot' have to be signed for? I cant see them just leaving something like this?

OH you have no idea!!!! I ordered a PS3 from Dell.com. I signed up for email notification of delivery. Never got an email so I checked online. It was set to be delivered that day. Got home, it was sitting on my front step in a big box that said PS3 for all the world to see. Not very smart. I was so mad. I can't believe companies do this. Just have me sign for it. I don't care. But don't ship something in a box labeled PS3 and leave it on my front step and then fail to notify me that it even shipped.

OH I hope you find it and soon. A couple of years ago at Christmas time UPS left one of the board games we had ordered at the wrong address (reverse of our numbers). The UPS guy knew his mistake but the wonderful people who lived in the house denied getting the game. Amazon did make good on it but it was only a $25 item.

A couple of months later we received an expensive item addressed to these same people, yup UPS had done it again in reverse, we took the item to their door and handed it over to them. I can only hope it made them fell bad IF in fact they had considered our board game an extra "gift" for them that year. We did let UPS know we had received the item addressed to them and that they now had it.

Oh goodness! I sure hope this works out for you! I had a package from amazon that was marked "DELIVERED" on 12/15, but it wasn't actually at my door until 12/18. I dunno what happened, but it had me worried.

I've had a lot of bad experiences with Amazon.com lately, so I'll be thinking of you! Let us know what you find out!

Cheers,
Josh

Spoke to My UPS delivery guy today during his normal delivery time and he said he left the package on the front porch. We live on a fairly quiet street so I don't think someone other than a neighbor would have seen it.
I talked to all my neighbors and they all said they hadn't gotten anything for me from the UPS Delivery guy.
I spoke to Amazon and they said that because WII is a hot item they are requiring signature delivery for the WII. I told them I had not signed for it because I was not home and my neighbors didn't sign anything according to them. She said according to her computer it had been delivered but nothing about a signature. She told me to contact UPS but I told her I spoke to the delivery guy and he told me it was left on my porch.
They said that due to the difficulty of getting this item they cannot send me out another but will refund the money to my charge card. I am very disappointed because this was something I really wanted to give my son who had been through such a hard year.
So now I am going to re-sign for WII alert, and hope that in the meantime the item is found on the delivery truck and will be brought here before Christmas.
Either it is lost or one of my neighbors is giving a WII to their kids this year. I really can't believe that though, because my neighbors are all really nice people and I can't see any of them stealing anything.
I will update if anything else happens. Thank you all for your suggestions.

Does UPS EVER have you sign anymore?????

I ordered about $500 of American Girl stuff that came on 2 seperate days. Both times, I was home and when I stepped outside to leave I found the boxes by my door! I was home and they didn't even knock on my door. I would really have appreciated the opportunity to bring my order into my home so I could make sure that it was safe.

It just seems like really bad customer service to just dump stuff on door steps.

I really hope you find your wii. It is pretty small so it may be in a smaller box than you are expecting.

I used to work for UPS and unfortunatly unless the shipper pays for delivery confirmation UPS just drops the stuff off and during the holidays they may just drop it off anyway to save time. Unfortunatly, to UPS home delivery is the least of their concern because they make the most of there money on company deliveries where they deliver lots of packages to one location. It is cheaper for them to pay the claim on the chance of a home delivered package not getting there and keeping the driver moving than it is for the driver to take the time to ring the bell and hand it over to someone or have to come back another day to deliver. This is the sad reality of big company's wanting to make lots of money the easiest way possible.

OP, I sincerly hope you find your package. I am also wondering if it wasn't delivered to the same house number but different block. Like others have said as well UPS is supposed to deliver out of site and out of weather so it could be anywhere. I only wish my driver would deliver out of site and weather because ours drops it in the open on our porch even in the pouring rain despite the couple

I only wish my driver would deliver out of site and weather because ours drops it in the open on our porch even in the pouring rain despite that a couple extra steps and opening a door leads to our covered porch. I have even talked to the supervisor of our local UPS and the drivers just don't care. I can vouch for the fact that the drivers are expected to work their butts off so they look for any way to cut corners so they can be home with their familys at a decent hour especially during the holidays.

Our UPS guys are terrible. 9 times out of ten, our packages are left at a house down the street with a similar house number. (Ex., we are 1211, they are 1311.) The people that use to live there were great about letting us know, but they moved and the new owners either just leave it on their porch, or take it in their house and wait for US to realize we are missing something. BTW, we have called and complained many times and they really don't care, especially during the holidays because they have so many seasonal workers. The customer service at our local hub is TERRIBLE.

had to chime in with my story - I came home to find a large package on my doorstep, and brought it in - thinking it was something my husband ordered.
When he said he had no idea what it was, we looked at the address closer and found that it was for the same street # and address, but in the next town over.
I called UPS (the tollfree nationwide #) and told them of thier mistake, and they *would not* come get it. They told me not to worry about it, just keep it and that when the people didn't get it, they would contact amazon and have another one sent :sad2:
So I looked in the phone book and just called the real recipients and they drove over to get it.

I"m furious with UPS. As I turned onto our street I saw the UPS truck at the corner. This lady has a fence with motorized gates, which were closed. As I turned onto the street I watched the UPS guy toss a package over the gate onto her driveway as his driver sat there. They saw the look on my face and just drove away. Later that week they left two packages from B&N in front of my garage door instead of on my front porch during a rain storm
