OK, my DP, who is a fan of this show (I am NOT, even though one of my classmates participated last season), tells me that one of the teams participating this season is a father-daughter team, where the daughter is a lesbian and daddy isn't really pleased. Oh, JOY!

OK, who is going to follow this saga? I guess I am in.

I am an amazing race addict!! I have watched it religiously from day one.. season one!! Well.. except for 2 seasons ago when they made a HUGE error in judgment and changed the show's format... I can only imagine that the person who made that decision is now working in a DMV office somewhere!

There is alot of Hype being made this year about the gay daughter... there has been at least one gay person (usually more) on each season. I don't know why there are playing that particular card this season. It's not like they are lacking in the ratings department... Who knows?

I am gearing up right now to watch.. it's sooooo exciting! :) Gonna order in a pizza and cuddle up with the kitties!

Oooh, I just made the family my wonderful chicken parmigiana - terrific flavor and very few calories - along with roasted tomatoes with extra virgin olive oil and a nice salad. I suppose AR will happen soon after!

Eyeballs! They are all eating fish eyeballs! Yummy!!! :3dglasses

Ewwwwww....... This one is really tough from the beginning... they are really giving it to them this season! Making them work for their money!!!

I was a little suprised that they started them off with the "eating" contest and the tough physical climb up the Great Wall... wow.

I'm having a tough time picking my favorite team(s)... I liked the Indian couple (of course they are gone now)... The 2 gay guys are rather annoying... the father/daughter combo is okay, but I didn't like him so much after he basically said his daughter was a disappointment (even if he said a little). I'm sure that disappointment will be magically gone by the experience of the show though.. don't they always seem to work out that way?

Anyway, I just hope the 2 rehab/model guys hang around so there's some eye candy for us... and maybe keep the cheerleaders and Miss America folks for the ladies in the family. :goodvibes

DRAT!!! I missed the first episode. Could someone please post or PM me a recap please?

I missed it too!!! How did I miss it?!?!?!?! Oh no!!! :sad2:

The RI father really ticked me off. To go on national TV and say he's "disappointed" because his daughter is gay! Nice goin' dad!!

What do you guys think of the tri-athletes?

DP and I were discussing this last night and he didn't like the fact that she was using her disability to pull the "pity" card to get ahead in certain things. However, I didn't have any issue with it as she has to live with that disability every day of her life. In this race, there will be times when having that disability will hold her back (example: climbing the great wall). I'm sure none of the other teams would be jumping up and saying it wasn't fair to have a competition like that when she is at a major disadvantage. So why complain when she can use it to get ahead at other times?

I believe the issue came up when she was allowed to board the plane first. I didn't quite get the whole complaining issue since, 1) they have assigned seating so she isn't getting a better seat by getting on first, 2) the plane carrying them all will arrive at the same time and it could take her longer to get off the plane, 3) she's having mechanical difficulties that are going to make the race get even more difficult for her...

I agree with you on all these levels! The only time I didn't like what she did was with the cab.. saying she had an emergency.. and pointed at her leg.... that appeared as if they were trying the get a cab in front of the other team that had been out there first.... and that I think is just plain wrong. Just like when the Little Person who was on the show... darn.. why can't I remember her name... did the very same thing... That is not playing fair... The plane thing had me baffled as well.... Don't know why a huge deal was being made out of that one.

I can't wait until next week!!!!!

I think it was Charna.

I'm in so far. The last 2 editions really bored me, so this time they have a lot of catching up to do to win me back. As for the disability thing - I don't see a problem with her using her prosthetic to snag the cab early. It's the posturing about how the disability "isn't going to slow ME down, I can do anything, blah blah blah" that I find annoying. Maybe if she'd say - "yes, this might make some things harder, but I will also play it up when it's beneficial to our place in the race."
Anyway, I like most of the teams so far, except for the one who told the cab driver to take her to the great wall of China when they were in Beijing. Like he was going to get confused and take them to the great wall in Tuscaloosa, Alabama...

There probably is, I mean we have one here... but I hear their general tso's chicken isn't that good.

Thank goodness someone else said this first , what is up with that " dance " thing they did when they hit the mat OMG I was embarrassed for them.

I have seen every episode , and will continue to watch whatever this season brings.

I like to DVR the show and start it 20 minutes later so I can 1- skip commercials and 2- skip eating the gross things part.

If you are gonna tape any of this seasons shows keep in mind its on CBS on a Sunday night , thats AFTER FOOTBALL so I addded an extra hour to the record time.

I agree, thank god someone said something about the gay guys. This is now two years in a row where the most annoying couples have been the gay guys. Not to offend anyone, but why can't they find an average, everyday gay male couple who aren't shown getting their nails done and dancing around in circles? I just cringed when they showed these clips. While being yourself is all well and good, I just wish the networks weren't always trying to get the most outlandish gay men they can find. Or am I off base?

BTW..thanks for the great tip about taping it. I thought about it and forgot to set the DVR for an extra hour...
