Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

What was the deal with Ma Weaver and the Linz's and the yielding to traffic thing? I missed the details of that.

I don't understand either how the Linzs are not given a time credit. They are in last place because of that.
Yeah that really ticks me off. Not only are they in last place but they are 90 minutes behind the first two teams. I suppose it's possible (likely actually) that they get ahead of the sisters coming out of Yellowstone. But, otherwise they would have been up ahead with the other two teams. Instead of fighting it out with the sisters.

Did one of the Weaver girls really have her boyfriend's name "Greg" on her butt?!?! :rotfl2:

I guess I don't get this...if it's soo bad why watch in the first place, surely there is something else on TV at that time...

Man, I might be a little late posting a reply to this but I agree. If you don't like the show, change the channel and watch something else and if you watch next season... come back and post then. :sunny:

I like Amazing Race. Period.

Yes she did. :rotfl:

I loved how they made fun of the sisters calling them "bottled blondes, when they clearly dye their hair too. Or are we supposed to believe the one girl was born with streaked hair? :rotfl:

Can someone give me the rundown of tonite's episode? I think this is the first episode of AR that I have missed.

Silly me didn't get the fact that the Biggest Loser was 2 hours long and couldn't understand why Amazing Race wasn't on at its usual time. :rotfl:

Recap...

All teams leave the pit stop and are directed to go to a nearby high school. When they get there they have to wait until 6am I think to help a hot air balloon crew set up the balloon and then go for a ride. The teams had to wait to set-up 10 minutes in between. The Weavers, who were about 5 hours behind the Linz's showed up just in time to break their lead.

The balloon dropped them off by their cars and they were directed to a railroad where they had a detour with a choice between shoveling and hauling 400 pounds of coal into a train engine or putting together 20 feet of track. Everyone but the Weavers chose the track task. The Linz's and the Bransen's finished with no problems, but the sisters started melting down and took them a bit longer. The Weavers actually finished their task before them.

Then they were directed to drive to some horse ranch. This was a road block where two team members had to get on horses and herd 5-6 cattle into a pen 1/4-1/2 mile away. Everyone completed this without incident.

They were then directed to Yellowstone Park to see Old Faithful. They had to actually witness it erupt to get the next clue. The Bransens were there first and had to wait awhile (it erupts only every 92 minutes). The Weavers just made it. The other two teams missed it and had to wait 92 minutes. The Linz's (we were told) suffered a delay due to production draining their battery and that's why they ended up if fourth place. No mention of any time credit.

The next clue finds the Bransens and the Weavers racing to Phil at the mat. The Bransens just barely make it before them. But Phil tells them that the leg isn't over yet and gives them their next clue. "To be continued......"

Sorry to bring the thread down again, but this was another boring episode in the most boring season to date. And I love The Amazing Race. I try not to miss an episode (like it matters - we Tivo it in two places). But I just don't like this season. The people are (generally) dislikable (don't get me started on the Weavers), and the episodes are dull. They even had to spice up the previews by hinting at a mid air balloon collision (which didn't happen) and a surprise ending. Not. Two "production errors" involving dead batteries (BECAUSE ALL THEY DO IS DRIVE AROUND IN THEIR CAMPERS) with no time credits?

I love TAR. Just not this season... Just my .02; YMMV.

The balloons did collide, just nothing else happend. They just bounced off of each other. As far as the race goes, no it's not very exciting. But, I like following the people in the race. Granted, they're not winning any "best season yet" awards, but it's still entertaining me. I'm invested in it all the way to the end.

please please please let those nasty weavers go home today!! Again they make the bottled blond and implants remarks about the other team...they are just SO rude and nasty!!

No kidding! I'm so sick of them.
And, another production error? What gives?
I was so mad that it was to be continued!!

aggghhhhh so mad! i just watched the show ( we tivo it) and it makes me so mad those Weavers, they are the most stupid family ever, they make fun and talk about others and then they cry bcs no one likes them! Dah I wonder why?

And the Batterie Issue! I am sorry but that is just B.S from the production. They should stopped all teams then.

Previews of next week-- Weavers getting pulled over. At least something interesting might happen.. Does anyone know when the next season of Amazing Race (where they actually travel around the world and have real competitions) premiers? I hope its not too long of a wait.

This wasn't non elimination, the leg isn't over yet.

Also, the Godlewskis didn't get a time credit and it doesn't look like the Linz's will either...guess it's just one of those things they have to deal with.

Unlike the car accident last season that was completely the control of the player driving the vehicle (meaning--a player was driving)--

these drained car batteries are rediculous. If filming the show interferes with gameplay--that is just wrong. Why claim responsibility if the players will be penalized anyway?

Thw Weaver's were leaving and the Linz's were coming in, it was a very narrow road. It looked as though if the Weaver's had moved to the right a smidge, both vehicles could of squeezed by, but Chris Weaver (mom) told the daughter who was driving to "stay straight" I guess meaning, don't move over. Then, as the Linzes were kind of forcing them over, by continuing in, when the car's were side by side, The Weaver's stopped and Chris told them they are supposed to yield to outgoing traffic. (whaa whaa, I have never heard of that, I just thought it was whoever was most curtious). The Linz boy who was driving said "For that I apologize" and drove on. The Weaver's then proceeded to make fun of the apology, like the gratious, God-fearing Christians they are. ;)

Did anyone notice the younger Bransen girl make the comment of how the Weaver mom doesn't act like a mom? I know people here have commented on that, but I figured it was because of our age and experiences that made us realize that she is not a good role model for her kids, to have a 20 YEAR OLD notice and comment on it, how bad is it, truly?

I LOL at the previews for next week. The Weaver's get pulled over, and they show Rolly grabbing his seat belt and buckling in. :rotfl2: It's on VIDEO sweetie, that you were not belted!

I don't understand these production errors. The two teams whose camera crews apparently do not know how to charge a battery are in 3rd & 4th place could have conceivably been in 1st and 2nd if this hadn't happened. I thought for sure they were going to tell us the Godlewskis got a time credit at the beginning of this episode. That's really unfair.

Hmmm...the Weavers make up a 5 hour deficit and meanwhile their two strongest competitors have "production errors". Maybe their praying is working after all. :rotfl:

I'm really miffed about these "production errors" causing the Teams batteries to drain... what is up with that? I agree, if it a filming related incident, all the teams should be stopped... I will be so mad if the Linz's get booted because of AR's film problems! Perhaps this is why the leg isn't over? They wanted an equalizer somewhere in there to make it more fair? Just a thought....

I realized somewhere around 9:40 this was going to be a two part show... it was running too long... I so wasn't surprised when Phil said the leg wasn't over :rotfl:

How do we know one of the Weaver girl's has her boyfriend's name tattooed somewhere?? Did you notice when the Weaver girl driving said she failed math three times, I had to LOL at that... I'm sure the Mom failed Geography a few times as well :rotfl: "Is Pennsylvania a state?"

I don't understand that either, why mention their battery failed because of the production crew and then not give them a time credit :confused3 The only thing I can come up with is that they needed to explain how they went from first to last, but I agree, it's totally ridiculous.

As far as the car's breaking down, I am pretty sure in previous season's we have had Phil's voice-over explaining that if a car's breaks down, or anything happens due to malfunction, the teams can wait for a replacement vehicle, but will recieve no time credit.

Now, if it was a case of both the Godlewki's car and the Linzes car breaking down, then the time loss is for getting the car fixed. Why they were not given a replacement vehicle, is a mystery, but if the production crew did not cause the cars to breakdown in the 1st place, I can see why they would not be given back that time. Not fair, sure, but rules of the game.

In the past, there have been teams that have recieved time credits for actual Production hold-ups. Maybe the camera malfunctioned, or something on the production team broke, keeping that team from moving on, that is where the time credits come in.

Remember the little clown cars that kept breaking down? The teams had to wait to get a new one, and did not recieve any time.....

Any word about when this "family edition" will be over? Or when a new season of (hopefully) original AR will be on? I am really missing the original AR and have not kept up with current season at all.

Isn't Linda Weaver a teacher?
