I'm also finding this edition a little boring. Maybe it's because there are so many people to keep track of, I don't know. I'm hoping as teams are eliminated, it will get a little more exciting. I also think it's boring, because as others have said, the challenges have definitely been dumbed down and even with that, these people are having such difficulty. I can't imagine how they would be doing in another country that doesn't speak English. I hope they get on a plane real soon, because I'm getting tired of those SUV's.

Although, the running out of gas concept is something new that we haven't seen before, and that was kind of interesting.

Favorite conversation of the episode was the Gaghan family at the detour (it went something like this):
Boy (whining): "Carissa's not doing anything"
Mom: "Honey, She's trying...."
Boy: "Can I have her job"

I was lol at that one. DH & my favorite last night was when someone said to a young black woman with a suitcase "the sky is blue" she responded with "Yes it is." That was great!

That's true. It would have been great if the Paolo family had run out of gas, but no such luck.

I know this is going to sound bad - but I am annoyed buy the clothes that the one girls is wearing from the weaver family - I kept turning to my DH and saying are those underwear or bathing suit bottoms?

I can't decide who I am routing for... I really liked the family with the two young kids but last night they were killing me... 2 hours at the wrong reflecting pond...

I find it odd that so many of these people are in such horrid (physical) shape. I mean, I''m not going to win any marathons myself, but if I knew I was going to have to spend weeks outracing people, and competing in physically difficult challenges, I think I would've spent the last 6 months at the gym doing a little cardio and resistance training! Anybody want to make a friendly wager on whether the The Paolo mother, the dad with the 3 daughters, or the FIL end up in cardiac arrest first?

I was lol at that one. DH & my favorite last night was when someone said to a young black woman with a suitcase "the sky is blue" she responded with "Yes it is." That was great!

I know My fiance and I used to live in Baltimore and have been down to DC quite a few times. People walking around in black suits with black briefcases is VERY common unless it was a weekend (although I don't think it was because of the traffic they hit south of the city.) I kept thinking what if they went up to someone that wasn't part of the show. Just approaching someone like that in the middle of DC is risky Also, what's up with them being able to find parking everywhere so easily?? They must've had spaces roped off for them or something.

DH said to me last night, "If we learned anything from Rob and Amber it was to ASK for directions or where the place they are supposed to go is, as soon as you get to where you think you are going." Does anyone else remember Rob stopping (ok grabbing) people and asking them, "do youknow where this is? Show me, take me there, thank you." WHY why why did the Gaghans walk around for 2 hours at the reflecting pool? Why why why didn't they re-read their clue? Haven't they learned from any shows, always re-read the clue, especially if you can't find the box within say 20 minutes!

I thought the very same thing. I remember how difficult it was to park in DC when we were there.

I love the Amazing Race and have decided this edition is a snooze-fest. The main reason I like the show is because of all the thrilling activities and exotic locations...we're not seeing either of those things so far. I'm afraid the pressure will continue to build as teams get eliminated and it's just going to turn into parents yelling at their kids when things go wrong.

You mean you never just drove up to where you wanted to go and find a parking spot? That is why I take the Metro into DC.

I was pretty excited to see the Shoe House - I went to school in York for 4 years (York College of Pennsylvania).

I work at York Hospital and look over at York College all day.

Little did they know, if they had taken 30 West and gone by the Saturn dealership they could've taken a short cut

That is so true they would have avoided all that traffic.

Those got off the interstate below DC were so smart as you can sit forever in traffic.



From the previews, I guess next week we are driving from VA to Huntsville, AL to NASA from the previews. More riding in the SUV, I'm sure there must be a stop before they get to AL.

I think there is a certain amount of ego that goes along with many Amazing Race contestants.

BTW, the Paolo family just drives me crazy! The mom reminds me so much of my mother-in-law, I can feel my blood pressure rising every time she complains and whines! ARRRGH! And please, please, nobody blame it on them being Italian--my dad was born in Italy, came from a huge family. They were loud and boisterous, to be sure, but if anyone showed that kind of disrespect, they would have been smacked into next week!

You better believe it!!! My husband is Italian and there is no disrespect of elders allowed. Period.

Well that was dissapointing to see the team eliminated that was I really enjoyed the eye candy LOL. I was hoping for the Lanzi family I think it was the 3 brothers and teh sister hopefully they are next all in all I have to say this one has been very boring in comparison and I don't see it continuing to peak my interest.

I was glad to see the Rogers family go. No more hypocritical, sexist comments from that dad... it would have been nice if he had figured out the concept of teamwork, rather than "I am in charge and I don't listen to anybody."

The Paolos are starting to irritate me. The little kids whine less than that team. Ok, the little kids whine less than most of the adult teams.

Anyone notice that the length of the pit stop has changed? I am guessing it is longer to accomodate kids' sleeping habits and to let everybody leave in the morning, rather than at 3:42 am as is typical on the race. It was light out when the first team arrived, and it was light when they left around 8am.

I do want to see more interesting tasks, especially for roadblocks. Maybe something with a small confined space that might benefit a team with kids.

I was laughing at some of the responses too. One lady responded with something along the lines of "Isn't it pretty/beautiful?"

Well, I missed the 2 hour opener thanks to Hurricane Rita, but it looks like I didn't miss much. Based on just last night's episode, this season is a snore. :/

I love the family with the 2 little kids, but otherwise no one stands out to me. And I'm sorry, but can't you come up with something better for the race than getting lost in traffic?

I do have to say I enjoyed the spy sequence of the challenge. Especially the responses of "Yes it is" and "I know, isn't it pretty?"

I'll give it another week or so, but unless it improves I'm probly out this season.

Ok, I find this season of Amazing Race LAME... I understand there is kids invovled. But, having kids involved made it lame . Sorry, Ive watched every season. This season is just "Cutesie", its not exciting.
It was exciting when they went to other countries and didnt speake the language. It was exciting when they had to figure things out, exchange money, etc...
I hope they never do another family edition again. Right now I feel like Im watching A Travel channel special.

I'm sorry, but I love this show. I like that the show is in the United States. I think they got a good selection of families, and it is not your models, physical fit people doing the show. I thought it was neat that they found a Civil War Enactment-this is part of our heritage and it is unique to the U.S.

It did surprise that the Gaghan Family wandered around for 2 hours looking for the clue at the reflection pool, maybe they edited it to make it seem like it was 2 hours, cause they sure caught up fast in Virginia with the Civil War roadblock.

Also someone made the comment about turning by a Saturn Car dealership, now how would they known to do this. The one dad w/3 daughters made the comment to get off and avoid the traffic.

Me and my husband laughed about the parking situation in DC too. The show should have made them park in a northern suburb and take the Metro to DC. When we went to DC we did find parking at the Jefferson Memorial area, but there would not have been any parking up at the Lincoln Memorial. TAR had to rope off parking.

I agree -- I really like the US History stuff they're getting into it.

Unless the family was exaggerating, one of them (either the son or the dad I think) specifically said they spent 2 hours doing that.

Yes, but Phil also just said "the XXX family, who arrived first, will depart at 7:57am." He didn't say "the XXX family, who arrived first at 7:57 pm will depart at 7:57am" as is typical.

Yeah, I love this show, and I pay way too much attention... heh.
