Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

I'm sorry, I hate to keep rehashing this. If we were all discussing that season, then someone could steer clear if they didn't want to read about it. But, this person found out that someone was watching a previous season and just told them the winner. There was no reason for even saying that. It wasn't part of the conversation.

What I was saying is that I think it's perfectly OK to say soemhting along the lines of... The Bransens remind me of Uchenna & Joyce because they didn't do well early in the race but went on to win it all.

But they don't edit people into total slime, they do that to themselves.

Oh, I totally agree with that.

How about we drop it and move on the the current AR which this thread is for?

Which is exactly what that post was. That's how I feel about the Bransens, could end up winning it just like U&J. So many close calls early in the race for both of them.

And I think that is fine. No one can expect this thread to stay with the current AR. Just like the Survivor thread where we talked about all the past Survivors, it will be the same. We have been comparing and talking about all the ARs and shouldn't change it now.

The person was talking about TAR2, that was the season with Will/Tara. I didn't spoil that season. I did reveal the winner of TAR3 though, because we were pretty much on the topic of teams despised by most people (Weavers, Will/Tara), and so I brought up a season where the team despised by fans actually did win. In my opinion, this is a rather moot point at this time and the last I'll comment on it.

As for the poster that commented that the editing deosn't show people as total slime they do that for themselves, I couldn't agree more! But then you ggt delusional people such as Jonathan Baker (sorry for bringing up this guys name, lol) who insist that its all in the editing, and then he goes on Battle of the Network Reality Stars and he's still a complete slimeball.

U&J also did a lot of praying along the way.

From "The 10 Spot" in Sports Illustrated, of all places:

Amazing Race update: The Paolos were eliminated on Tuesday and, true to form, went down fighting -- with each other. As they tried to scoop water out of a submerged boat in the final detour, the mom told loudmouth son D.J., "Don't be yelling at me. I'll take your frickin' head off!" Responded D.J.: "Ma, this is a big river. I could drown you and nobody would find your body." Charming! Still, the most notable aspect of this season is that even with the Pugilistic Paolos on hand, it's the Bible-thumping Weavers that have emerged as the team that the others all love to hate. Tuesday's two-hour episode featured the Weavers at their schizophrenic best, whining that nobody likes them despite the fact that they're "the only family that's trying to lead a Christian life" in one breath and saying nasty things about the other teams in the next. And please, Weavers, stop asking God for "guidance" whenever you're lost. We're betting He/She faces more pressing concerns than providing driving directions to an annoying family on a reality show.

I know. Me and the majority of watchers loved those guys. Kinda proof positive that it's not the praying, it's the actaully the Weavers that people find disgusting.

Man! I hadn't been on the DIS since yesterday afternoon, and look at what I was missing. I couldn't even read through it all. I think it's gotten to a point where we are no longer talking about the 'race,' but over analyzing every little minute aspect of the game. It's getting to a point where it's too mind numbing to read it all :confused3 Can't we all just agree to disagree and move on? :goodvibes

Personally I think they have been reading the DIS! :rotfl:

As spoilers go, I don't feel anybody should have to hold back from posting about any past season or completed episode.

We should be able to compare the leaders and winners of this season to other seasons without worrying about people who didn't watch.

I thought there were two threads going on about the AR, one was with spoilers and one wasn't. I thought this was the spoiler thread. I could be wrong. I'll have to go back & look at the heading.

Okay, just looked it up. It's my LOST thread not this one that is an official spoiler thread. sorry.

Not sure of exactly how long, but I believe it's about 4 weeks.

And just like some other reality shows, getting eliminated doesn't mean you get to go home. Many times they are sent to a different location to spend the rest of the time. I'm guessing it's the same for the AR since they have the finale cheer section involving all the teams.

I have always wanted to know these answers. No one ever asks that question when they interview the contestants. Do they stay? Do they fly them back? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Yeah, all booted teams (except for the 4th place team) are sent to the same place until they are all flown to the finish line to cheer on the winners.

I've also read rumors that some teams race "faux legs" in some cities to throw off spoilers. Whether the producers actually go that far or not to cover their tracks, I'm not sure but it is interesting.

Cool. So I guess you can get a nice vacation even if you don't win the million.
Thanks for the info.

No, you are not the only one who has not seen all the ARs. I just rented S1 on DVD...and I knew who had one...but I was still seating on the edge of my seat until the very end. I don't have GSN, so I will be waiting for the tother seasons to come out on DVD so that I can see them. And I pretty much know who has already won every season...but I'm sure it will still be fun to watch.
