AMAZING RACE 5 - Official Thread

There are no rules against enlisting locals help as witnessed in past ARs when teams have enlisted drivers to lead their cab/car to their destination or begged for cash in airports. As long as they follow the directions, such as walking to a destination when so instructed versus taking a car or handling a detour without first getting the info, then it's okay. Don't forget, they have 24/7 obeservers with them at all times in the form of the camera crew, so if they do something illegal, I'm sure Phil will know about it.

IMO there is big difference between following a car (basically getting directions) and getting help with a physical challenge.

Maybe it is possible the rules allow for always hiring people to carry you bags, but if that's true, don't you think it would be done more often? Think of all the third world countries they travel to where people would be willing to follow them all day for a couple dollars. Couple that with a couple teams commenting how hard it was getting to lug the bags around towards the end of the race. Didn't sound like they had a choice.

I think you may be right about a technicality. I was thinking back, and I think that was the most physically demanding challenge they have had. They may have overlooked the issue of what kind of help each team can recruit outisde the primary objective and were stuck when somebody got creative with the rules.

No way around it, that team gained an advantage, and I'm still thinking there most certainly would have been a challenge had another team seen what they did.

I'm glad they got help. I couldn't bear to hear "Oh god help me...this is so hard...oh god help me" for one more second!! :faint:

THAT I AGREE WITH! :jester:

Getting ready for the show to start in a few hours! It'll be much more interesting with the drinking game....

On every Tuesday at 10:00pm? I liked it better when it was on Wednesdays.

LOL!!! No kidding!!! That was driving me CRAZY! I hope they're gone tonight.

All I can say is "WOW"!!

I don't think I did well at all w/ this weeks questions.

WOW here too. Can't believe the outcome... thought they were one of the strongest. Bad decisions. Don't think that relationship will survive this.

Team Midget is still annoying.

Chip was mean.

My fav team is the military Dad & daughter.

Another vote for WOW ! I think the only points I may have picked up this week were about hugging Phil !

Well then, I think you got more points than me. The show was great, but I don't think I scored any points!

I have no problem with Chip. It's a game, you gotta do what you gotta do. Nice ain't gonna win the game (just ask the couple that got the boot last week).

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!

Here in Nashville, the last 15 minutes got superseded by tornado and thunderstorm warnings. It broke away for good right when Chip and Kami (at least I think it was Kami) were fighting over the cab.

Can anyone put me out of my misery by letting me know who was eliminated and who won the cab fight?

Thanks!

Sandy - that is one question I know I got wrong!!!

Can M & C get any more help w/ the missions!

Amy - I hope no one is reading this that doesn't want spoilers.....

Alison and Donny were eliminated. The twins won the cab fight.

I love how they say "Everyone thinks I can't do anything, so they help us". Yet, when they went up to the guy driving the cart in the cemetary, they said "She can't do this, please help us" .

AmyA: SPOILER FOR WEST COAST VIEWERS:

Donny & Allison (I think that's their names), the ones who finished first last week, were eliminated.

If Alison and Donny hadn't been eliminated, I may have quit watching. DH left the room tonight and said that he wouldn't watch as long as they were on the show. That constant arguing was getting on my nerves.

What an unhealthy relationsip!

Thanks SO much for the info!! My gosh, it was driving me crazy, lol!

And thank goodness Alison went. Donny was right when he kept telling her that she was an embarrassment. I was embarrassed for her!

The results are already done for this week - DISBoards is kicking some major ***!!!!!

TerryKitten is in the lead for our group!!! Way to go!!!

What was the deal with the Bowling Moms and the Father/Daughter? Did anyone catch that? The F/D said the moms told them to exchange $$$ because no one would take american $$, which wasn't true. But, I didn't see where the Moms said that? I TIVOed and rewound and didn't see anything.

I couldn't believe that Alison and Donny were eliminated. That was shocking. But, I'm glad because they were just annoying and RUDE to each other.

Charla and Mirna weren't as bad this week. But, it still bothers me that always say they need help because Charla is a little person. They can't play that card for everything and then say how they're trying to prove how strong and independent they are.

I couldn't believe Chip either. The twins saw that cab first and she got into the cab first. It was their cab, IMO.

I'm glad Donny and Alison were eliminated. Can't stand the way they treat each other; wasn't it two seasons ago when a couple like that won and we had to watch them all season long? They were so hateful to each other! Was that the Flo team?

Can't wait til next week!
