we are planning a trip next may and really want to visit amazing exotics because of the close contact with the animals. has anybody been here and done this and did they enjoy it

We did it last summer and had a good time. The location is a bit of a drive and appears to be a little dated but we did have fun. They have limited funds and every dollar counts as they take in a lot of stray exotic animals that have been abandoned for one reason or another.

Once we started the tour and were told about each animal and it's history we felt a little less worried about the condition of the site. It could use some improvements, thier web site makes it looks more impressive then it is.

The package you pick will really decide the animals you get to have a hands on experience with while you are at the location. I added the tiger encounter for my girlfriend. That was nice but could have been longer. We also got to get hands on with a few other animals as well. The lemur was probably our favorite.

If you want to pm me your email address, I do have some pictures I could share if your interested. If you want to know further details then let me know in the pm as well.

my parents went there a couple of years ago. They paid for the tiger cub encounter or something like that.. but my father is a lawyer and refused to sign the waiver as he felt it wasnt realistic or fair...so that had to miss out on that part.

We went last year and we loved it. We did the more expensive encounter where we got to interact with three baby campuchian monkeys, a lemur and another bigger monkey. We then went outside and got to touch a leopard while they fed him. The tour was of the animals was so-so. It is a little run down and you feel a little sorry for the animals. Amazing Exotics try to make it comfortable for the animals but since they are a non-profit organization, and the fact that they are not close to a tourist area, they don't have a lot of money. Most of the animals are brought here because some people want to own an "exotic" animal which is againt the law, the law finds out and confiscates the animal. Also we were told some of the animals that are housed there are owned by people who pay a rent to keep the animals there and they come and visit their animals on a regular basis.

I would go back in a heart beat just to play with the monkeys again. One of the monkeys even fell asleep in my arms. The place is about 1 1/2 hours north of orlando. If you plan on going and love animals, when you call to make the reservation, ask them if there is anything you can bring, like toys or baby food. They fed baby food as a treat to the apes.

thankyou all so much for your replies, i cant wait to go here and have hands on with all the animals, its sounds great fun]
