Amazed and confused!

New here and learning quickly! Can't figure out though how so many of you have such scheduling flexibility to be able to make changes when a code comes out. I feel so limited with school age kids - the school year breaks are either at peak (super pricey, super crowded!!) times or are so short, like just a long weekend. Am I missing something here? How do you all do it? Open to any tips!!

We don't plan around discounts. We book what we know we can afford and are willing to pay for, then if a discount comes out that will work, great! If not, we knew what the price was when we booked. We could usually change our dates by a day or two for a discount, but we've never needed to. Our kids get out of school the Friday before Memorial Day, and that is usually when we go. However, I changed jobs last summer and the other girl in the office already asked for that week, so we are going June 5-14 instead. I work at a school now, so I can't take time off during the school year.

We don't like to pull our daughter out of school anymore and we both also work..so we choose to travel during school breaks only. This year it will be the week of Memorial Day and we are able to take advantage of the spring promotion which enabled us to afford a moderate. We were originally booked at a value. Like another poster stated, we book what we can afford and then if a discount becomes available we treat ourselves to an upgrade. Good luck with your planning!

I feel you, and in the same boat. I'd be okay taking the kids out for a week, but I work in schools and am not allowed to take time off during the school year. DH only gets three weeks off/year and its extremley difficult for him to get more than one during the summer holidays. So we have one week where everyone is free, if they dont release something soon to make the trip affordable we won't be going.
