Amanda & Eric 03/03/10- WP/WHP/Sago Cay Centerpiece Ideas!

I LOVE these two. They would both look fantastic during an evening reception in the Napa room.

Did they say why the reception had to be so short? An hour and a half doesn't even seem like it is enough time for dinner, much less enough time for an entire reception.

People are a bit weird. Just because someone posts about her life and wedding on the internet does not mean she is asking for financial or life advice.

I'm not sure why...I know it HAS to start 2 hours after the park closes. An hour and half is just so short!!

I think I might want a combination of the two you picked,on different tables.

ooh that would look nice! as far as the reception goes...I say you should go with the Napa Room...you REALLY seem to like the idea of it and it looks so nice and has a great setting...plus these kinds of table settings would look beautiful there at night with the view!!!:thumbsup2

I emailed our WC and asked if we could view a couple places when we go down in June. I want to make sure Eric is as excited as I am about it. I am a little bummed about not having a dessert party but this is almost as good!

Oooh I love the purple flowers, really beautiful. They would look great in the Napa room too!

That is an excellent idea! :thumbsup2 I bet places look so much different in person then in pics and you can also get the feel of each place.

Thank you!! I am thinking that the purple and pink fit the ceremony (outside maybe) and then when we get to the reception it will be more of the dark puple and green...kind of a transition.

Oh wow, great idea, that would be really beautiful.

Ohhh what do you guys think of this cake?? In dark purple?

I like that idea! Having different centerpieces on the tables, especially those two, would look beautiful. A site visit would probably help you guys really visualize everything. Pictures can only do so much and I'm sure the view of the MK from the Napa room is breath taking. I highly doubt the pictures do it any justice.

Have you given any more thought to the ceremony location?

That is one funky cake, I love it.
I am looking for something simple, but unique and colorful!!

No...I am really stuck on the ceremony site. It really comes down to SBP and WP but I am just really stuck!

Showing me pictures of cake while I'm watching Biggest Loser and planning next week's workouts is really rude

It is really pretty though!

Lol I am sure it tastes like cardboard.

And I love that you are "planning" next weeks workout...me too:lmao:

Ok...LOVE the cake. It is similar to that other one you posted in the inspiration board only without the flowers. I like the idea of going from a pink and purple theme to a purple and green theme. The different centerpieces on different tables...that is my favorite part! I think it would look amazing to combine those too. I love candlelight:lovestruc.

It will be nice for you guys to see some of the locations in June. I am sure Eric will feel much better about it. Maybe he will like the SBP better:rolleyes:

That cake in dark purple would not look good, it would lose the detail of the piping. You'd do better with a lighter color with possibly little girl dark purple accents.

Also, if you're going to do silk flowers have them in realistic colors. Dark purple silk flowers will look like cheap dark purple silk flowers. The idea with silk is to go natural flower colors so from far way and in pictures they look real.

That's a tough choice. They are both so pretty, but very different. Do you plan on seeing them in person when you are there in June also?

I told myself that it probably tasted like crap in order to keep my grumbling stomach in check.

I'm an obsessive compulsive planner. I make lists like you wouldn't believe. I have to plan my workouts or else I go nuts and feel so disorganized. I'm training for the half marathon so I have a strict training/workout plan I gotta stick to. I only have 8 months

I am so excited we switched the colors around. I am really liking the dark purple especially in those centerpieces!!! Hopefully it won't be too pricey!!

We are hoping for a site visit but we'll see.

I think I need to get as organized as you are when it comes to working out. I am so jealous you are running in the half!!

that cake is awesome!! I think it would be really pretty in dark purple, but the piping might would need to be made a bit more bright gold, rather than the brassier color in the pic? I"m not sure...there is a chance the brassier color from the pic might actually work, depending on the exact shade of purple used.

I don't know if this is the shade of purple you are thinking, but this shade would work really well with the brassy piping!

Ok, purple is my favourite colour but I think those flowers and the cake is all wrong - please don't shoot me!! :lmao:

Please bear in mind that I'm not a fan of "funkied" wedding things (like mad hatter cakes) or silk flowers, so that no doubt influences my opinion. But here it is - you have a spring wedding, you have the option for cheap, beautiful spring flowers so why not use what's naturally going for you. Secondly, in my opinion your gown and veil belong in a beautiful, classic wedding, and that cake does not - that cake with its heavy gold filigree and solid colour belongs in a heavily themed wedding - sort of a mis-match of styles? Really, I think if the wedding isn't heavily themed, any cake in a solid bright colour could look dated quickly in your photos when you pull them out in a few years unless it's a colour scheme you really identify with and have done for some time (i.e. is your personal style). Since you're going back and forth on colour schemes, I suspect this isn't the case. Plus, if you're trying to match colours to the cake icing there's more scope for things to go wrong on the day (i.e. they could get the colour wrong)!

Having said all that - I LOVE that picture of the clean, classy, white table setting you posted with the roses :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

In the end though, please feel free to ignore all this - I have particular tastes and you need to choose things that will be your special memories, not the memories that some random person on a message board thinks you should have :rotfl2:
