Amanda & Eric 03/03/10- WP/WHP/Sago Cay Centerpiece Ideas!

that cake is awesome!! I think it would be really pretty in dark purple, but the piping might would need to be made a bit more bright gold, rather than the brassier color in the pic? I"m not sure...there is a chance the brassier color from the pic might actually work, depending on the exact shade of purple used.

I don't know if this is the shade of purple you are thinking, but this shade would work really well with the brassy piping!
Yea gold might be better...not that I have gold in the wedding:lmao: I like that cake...parts of it anyway. But the color is great!!

Ok, purple is my favourite colour but I think those flowers and the cake is all wrong - please don't shoot me!! :lmao:

Please bear in mind that I'm not a fan of "funkied" wedding things (like mad hatter cakes) or silk flowers, so that no doubt influences my opinion. But here it is - you have a spring wedding, you have the option for cheap, beautiful spring flowers so why not use what's naturally going for you. Secondly, in my opinion your gown and veil belong in a beautiful, classic wedding, and that cake does not - that cake with its heavy gold filigree and solid colour belongs in a heavily themed wedding - sort of a mis-match of styles? Really, I think if the wedding isn't heavily themed, any cake in a solid bright colour could look dated quickly in your photos when you pull them out in a few years unless it's a colour scheme you really identify with and have done for some time (i.e. is your personal style). Since you're going back and forth on colour schemes, I suspect this isn't the case. Plus, if you're trying to match colours to the cake icing there's more scope for things to go wrong on the day (i.e. they could get the colour wrong)!

Having said all that - I LOVE that picture of the clean, classy, white table setting you posted with the roses :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

In the end though, please feel free to ignore all this - I have particular tastes and you need to choose things that will be your special memories, not the memories that some random person on a message board thinks you should have :rotfl2:

Lol no thank you for you opinion (and being NICE about it!!). I see your point but I definitely see my cake with color. I guess this kinda goes back to my first wedding...and I did everything I was "supposed" to. Our motto right now is "It's OUR wedding" :lmao:

I will keep the color matching thing in mind...it reminds me of what happens with Carrie's cake.

Thanks again!

Eric and I talked last night and he definitely liked the idea of the Napa room but we definitely want to see a few places.

I am going to try and change our Citricos reservation to California Grill so Eric can try the food...it is my favorite restaurant!!

Our motto right now is "It's OUR wedding" :lmao:

:lmao: I totally understand, this isn't some matrimonial redo but a whole new world (is that too sappy a thing to say?? This is a Disney board afterall so I suppose it's all good). Perhaps a more delicate silver filigree pattern would also look great against the strong purple instead of the gold, maybe even have plain silver ribbon bands around the base of each layer? Which of gold or silver fits in best with your mental picture of how the wedding looks?

That's actually a great way to put it. A lot of things about my first marriage were so wrong...we were young, there was a lot of family drama and we had the wedding we were supposed to have ( a big church wedding). I always dreamed of a Disney Wedding and now that I finally found the person I am meant to be with, we want to have our dream wedding:lovestruc

Ok enough of the emotional stuff!! lol. I actually like the idea of the purple cake with silver on it!! I do love the bronze but it doesn't fit. I still like the cake from a few pages ago that was puple and green but wanted to something with a little more UUUMMPH!!
:rotfl:

It might also be pretty with that design just on the middle layer and something a bit planner on the other two:confused3 I think the cake might be one of the hardest things to pick out!!

First, congrats on your engagement!

Second, I agree with CaryS. While I do LOVE funky things (I adore the Mad Hatter cakes and bright, bold colors), I do think that your dress leans itself to a more sophisticated style. I would also ditch the birdcage veil, as it looks more vintage than your dress does, but that is just my preference. I think the Napa Room and WP is a great combo! Your dress realy fits with those venues. The pictures you posted with the candles is wonderful! I like cakes with colors, but for your wedding, I would do the color as an accent and not the entire cake. Again, all just my opinion.

I understand what you mean about not having what you want at your wedding. My DH and I had been together for years before we got married. At first, we were going to do a Disney wedding, but opted for a beach wedding instead. It was ok (I did love my flowers; I used silk :)) but we didn't really plan at all (I was just happy to be getting married, so I let my MIL do what she wanted). I lurk here because one day we may do a VR at WDW!

Thank you!!

I am going to revert back to my "It's our Wedding" motto, lol.:lmao:

I really love the birdcage veil and will have to disagree. I think it looks great with my dress. I am debating back and forth between having the veil or just the fascinator.

And I am defnitely still looking for a cake with some color in it. A white wedding cake is just not what I pictured. Maybe I will find one I like but it's not what I am thinking...

I hope you get your VR too!!

So I'm new to DISboards and spent the last 4 days reading your whole thread...WOW!!! So many great ideas! I LOVE your dress, and agree with everyone when they say it looks perfect on you and you totally don't need to lose any weight! I see it more as classic movie star (you know, the kind of movie star who can do anything she wants and get away with it), so I think the dark purple flowers and purple cake will be so cool! I definitely do think silver would look better than gold, though. The Napa room is nice, but I see ADH fitting better with your dress. In the end though, it's not about having the perfect theming and making everything go together. It's about what you want and what makes you happy :)

We are hoping for a site visit but we'll see.

I think I need to get as organized as you are when it comes to working out. I am so jealous you are running in the half!!

I hope you get that site visit pixiedust:

It's the only aspect of my life that is remotely organized and I think my sole reason is because of Disney. I'm dropping serious cash to run next year, I better do fantastic. Don't be jealous! When I die 5 seconds after crossing the finish line you won't be very jealous. :rotfl:

Some more.....

Just some ideas, I was bored and I find these funky cakes fascinating. I think the last one is my favorite.

don't know if you alreayd found one or not yet but... Etsy.com has some gorgeous facsinators and birdcage veils! I saw them last night and thought of you girl! There were some really unique "classic vintage" ones that would look amazing with your dress. Def check it out if you get a sec, very cool selection:thumbsup2

I love that last cake. You could do purple or green ribbon and then the opposite with flowers on the cake. The topper you picked out before would look good on that too. Although I do like the idea of the purple cake with silver piping. I am always more of a silver person than a gold person. The most important part of the cake is that it is yummy!!!! When do you get to taste that?? That was our favorite part of planning lol.

Oh I will have to look!! I found a site last night but have been looking for more!! I am really excited to wear a fascinator!!

We are hoping to go in September...remember:rotfl: Not sure if we will make it or not. Eric has his heart set on chocolate with peanut butter mousse!

Thank you so much!! Maybe saying I have to lose weight was the wrong phrase...I would like to TONE up ;)

Thank you for the compliments on my dress...I love it!!! Hope you stick around too!!

Ok...I don't think it is allowed for you to put your initial on top and not his lol. Try and M;-)

And...chocolate with peanut butter mousse...sounds AMAZING!!!! I do think they have off-white (or ivory) fondant. They can make it any color why not Ivory??

It would be sad not to get to taste everything. Can you not do things like that in June? It is really early I guess but you will already be there! I do remember you saying you would be down there in September. Is the conference thing not happening anymore?

Lol I know I can't just put mine up...he probably wouldn't notice though.

We can do the planning session until after we sign a contract...which COULD be before our trip BUT then my mom wouldn't be there.

Hopefully we will be attending a conference in September...less $$$ to pay...and if I have to go anyway

It would be sad not to taste anything.

Did you see we are eating at California Grill now? I am so excited...and hungry!!

Awww...he needs to talk to Pat about things like that! You know...not even a single gift since Valentine's Day 2008!!! :sad1::sad1::sad1:

California Grill is so yummy...I'm jealous but we wanted to try something different this time. I am excited for Jiko though:) He is going to die when the fireworks start at dinner!!!:cheer2:

Right now I am just trying to look forward to short term things like Metropolitans on Friday :banana::banana:
