Part 2

If I have ever in my life seen an unorganized operation, it would not have even compared to our unloading of the car at the resort. Cathy and I were so excited and we had packed so much, that I thought we were never going to get everything unloaded and up to the room. We kept leaving things on top of the car, dropping things in the parking lot, tripping over our own luggage – Ahh, memories. Despite the little Two Stooges show we were putting on for everyone, we were still able keep one arm free to take pics with. Pics of the Disney busses, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, Disney trash cans… But I digress.

Check-In was perfect. After we got our room keys, and some maps and brochures, we were off to our room! As we were walking through the lobby, ‘Be Our Guest’ – from Beauty and the Beast -- was playing, and it was as if it were especially for us. Very magical!

It didn’t take very long for us to get to our room (1520) since we were staying in the Calypso section. The guitar-shaped pool looked very refreshing as we walked by. There was even a Three Caballeros fountain in the middle! But we had to press on -- Disney Studios was waiting for us! Calypso is a beautiful area to stay in. There are lots of bright colors, making it look very tropical.

Our room was so neat! Star-shaped lights on the wall, music notes on the window curtains. And one of my favorite channels on the TV this week was the Walt Disney World information channel. Although we did switch it over to the Spanish channel later in the week for some variety. (We don’t speak Spanish either. J) So we ‘watched’ the WDW Information channel while we got settled in a little, changed clothes, and made sure we had everything we needed for Disney Studios.

On our way to catch the Disney Studios bus, we stopped in the food court to get refillable mugs (WONDERFULL!) then I went to the pay phone to call Mom and really let her know we made it. I was afraid she may not have heard me yelling earlier. I was talking so fast that I could hardly understand what I was saying, so I’m sure Mom didn’t get very much out of that conversation. None the less… We headed towards the busses.

But wait!!! What’s that???? I was the first one to spot them. Pressed coin machines!!! And so in the next 3 minutes began the tradition of the ‘Flat Penny Alert’. From now on, we were to announce the sighting of a pressed coin machine with these simple words “Flat Penny Alert!” – even if it was a quarter machine.

And now, on to the bus! Wow! I have ridden on busses before, so has Cathy. But our first trip on a Disney bus was absolutely thrilling. We were terribly excited and kept talking back and forth. “We’re here!” “We finally made it!!!” After the Sorcerer’s hat for the 100 Years celebration was visible it was impossible. We couldn’t hold it in any longer. We were both squealing and laughing right up until we got off the bus and started jumping up and down. We just couldn’t help it! Another wonderful magical memory!

I noticed as we were walking up to the gate that the sky looked kinda cloudy. I simply dismissed this as typical Florida weather. Every time I go to Florida it rains, so I figured ‘No big deal.’ Didn’t give it a second thought.

After we walked through the turnstiles and onto Hollywood Blvd, we both decided then and there that we would be back the next year, without a doubt.

To be continued... Dum dum dum :D

And let the adventure begin - I did laugh about the unloading of the car - I have that same problem - even with just loading the car - thanks for posting!

Just finished reading both part one and then here to part two, they are wonderful! I am anxiously awaiting some more!

WOW! I can feel your excitement! Great that you have so many magical memories already and you haven't even entered a park! Looking forward to reading more...
