Am so depressed!

Totally agree with re-training as this is something I may have to think about in the future if this carries on. Something strange happened today. I had applied for a job at the BBC and they sent me an email saying that I still had one section left to fill in and could I fill it in - sounds more promising than anything else.

A friend of mine was a trader at Bear Stearns. After he was made redundant he couldn't get another job in finance so re-trained as a tiler and is loving it. He was offered a job straight away.

Still being out of work has it's benefits. I went into London today with my mum and nephew and we attended a free organ recital at a church. On the first Friday of every month they 'air the organ' it was very good as I've never attended one before. The first tune the organist played with the Hallelujah Chorus which reminded my neph and I of the Carol Concert at Epcot. It was a lovely feeling as I've been so down lately and just thinking about the Carol Concert and the amount of times I've seen it made me feel alot better.

I started of doing access 5 years ago, graduated this year and now doing Post grad so will be looking for a job next year. It is tough at the moment for so called "safe jobs" such as teaching as there is lots of people who have lost there job are going to uni to retrain . Even newly trained secondary teachers are going to struggle to find jobs as more are doing PGCE this September, it is a waste of time going in to primary school teaching unless you are a man at the moment.

See, this is what is scaring the daylights out of me. I am a uni student and have wanted to be a teacher since I was 13 or 14 years old, but I am terrified that I won't be able to get on a course, then what will I do? I am applying early, but what if I don't get interviews even? There isn't much in the way of jobs around at the moment.

Scary, scary times!
