Am I wrong for feeling this way? Venting.

My issues is also all physical. I forgot some people can get SSI for depression which is not always permanent so they can try and go back to work. Just using that as an example.

I always forget about SSI and that does make sense. I never learned anything about SSI just know it exists.

OP - to get back to the original issue, good for you and your mom for getting your numbers together and having a plan. Just be prepared that you may never see that utility money from her. She may just leave. And good luck on the Disney job!

I can't speak for the OP, but with my disability the only type of job I "may" be able to hold on would be a part-time job with major flexibility. Some days I could do it no problem. But there may be 5-6 days in between where it would be physically impossible for me to make it to work let alone finish the shift. I would be fired by most or all employers.

I would love to try, really I would. I would never be able to find and keep a job anywhere near the income I used to make. What makes it even more pathetic, there is no part-time job that could guarantee me the small amount I make on SSD, but at least with the SSD I get medicare. Medicare really is not the best insurance but I am thankful I have insurance to help with all my medications this year. This year I have actually maxed my insurance meaning I spent more on insurance than I made from my SSD check. Since money does not grow on trees I am in the deficit. I am hoping to change my meds around and feel better next year.

Sorry this is so long.

Thank you. I understand that someone with a disability would be able to work on a limited basis. It seems the decision to work and number of hours should be based on that person's ability to do so, not on "whether its worth it to work or not". I guess I just didn't understand what the Op meant by that and didn't want to jump to any conclusions.

Good luck on the job!
Also do you have a plan if she doesn't start paying? Sorry if I skipped over that part.

To clarify we are not on SSI, we are on SSD. I'm on it because of the health conditions I have, I did lose the ability to work. I'm not any better than I was when I became disabled but I have to at least try to work because of the money situation. If I can't, then I'll have to give them notice.

Also, it takes two years to get medicare. I won't be eligible for it until July of 2013. I currently have no health insurance. I cashed out all my savings and my 401k to pay for cobra from my old job from march 2011 until October 2012. I ran out of money to pay for it now, not sure how I'm going to get all my medications. Disney offers health benefits after 3 months, even for part timers which is another reason why I need to try.

FYI - Starbucks is another company I know of that gives health insurance to part time employees! Maybe you could work at Starbucks on Main Street - oh wait, that's a whole different conversation - LOL!

I can't stand on my feet, I have something called RSD in my left leg that I had two surgeries on. But thank you for the information!

Well, mom's friend bought me dinner.. A can of spagettios! LOL!

....off-topic, but did you find out about that job yet? :confused3

[....if it's been posted, saw-ry...didn't read through all the posts here...]

No, they told me I'd find out this week. It's killing me, during working hours I check my emails every 10 minutes.

A good way to get money to pay for your meds is to get rid of your expensive cable, not buy APs for Disney, not eat at expensive restaurants and not feed strays. Thankfully others have tried to talk you out of the last. I hope you take their advice.

***? I haven't eaten at a restaurant in months. I haven't bought APs and I'm not canceling my cable service because we budgeted wrong one month.

If you simply budgeted wrong one month, then I guess you don't really have a problem. But when you tell people you have one egg or chicken breast or whatever it was to last you for meals for days, it certainly sounds like you're in dire straits, so naturally people are going to suggest pawning your computer, cancelling your cable/internet service, and seeking help beyond an discussion board dedicated to an expensive theme park. I feel like there's a lot of back and forth in this thread and I can't keep track of what you're really complaining about.

I'm not complaining. I was venting about a situation in my household. I'm not asking people for any help, I just wanted to know if my feelings were warranted or not. That's all.

Oh, and I've been posting on the DIS more lately because I interviewed for a job at Disney. Incase you didn't know cast members get free entrance to the parks for themselves which is something I'm really looking forward to if I get the job.

If you can't stand (according to you), what type of position would you be eligible for at Disney?

In the OP's defense, she did mention early on that their trouble right now was temporary and just caused by a budgeting mistake (or something like that) this one month. I think many of us (me included) have a heightened sense of suspicion about dramatic posts thanks to a few less than honest posters lately, but the OP really does seem to have been consistent in what she's been saying.
