We are leaving for DLR in 3 weeks and 5 days :yay:!! It will be me, my DD 5 and my nephew 22. This is the trip that my DH, who passed away last year, had planned when our DD turned 5 so this is a pretty important trip to me. I'm just wondering if I should be planning more.

These are our plans:

May 27 arrive at 9:30pm - booked Super Shuttle to HOJO
May 28 DLR/DCA - no plans just park hopping
May 29 Princess Lunch - will probably do Fantasy Faire before lunch princess:
May 30 Park hopping again - viewing fireworks and F! (may even attempt the trifecta)
May 31 Universal Studios
June 1 HOB Gospel Brunch basically a DTD day (will be doing Build a Bear and RFC)
June 2 Park hopping again
June 3 Sea World
June 4 Last day at DLR/DCA
June 5 Spend day in LA (booked at Radisson at LAX)
June 6 Leave for home at the unholy hour of 7am :sad2:

If the days that I have planned might work better on other days, or if there are things that I must not miss please let me know.

I have gotten so much help from these boards...the biggest being the entertainment rate at HOJO (thanks to Lorealle for being so gracious)!! I've got my LGMMH sent to me by a fabulous DISer and also the card from my DD's Fairy Godmailer...we even have our maps already.

Since you have 5 full days at the parkss I think you can afford to not do as much planning. One thing I would do is make sure you see the fireworks from the hub or main street area on one of your first days just in case they get cancelled due to winds you can try again another night.

Have a great trip!

I'm so very sorry to hear about your DH.

Your plans sound pretty good---you should have plenty of time to really enjoy everything.

It’s up to you to decide how much planning to do, it’s up to us to make sure you have all the information you need to do that planning. Everybody moves at different speeds, and has different things that that are important to them. Just make sure you do the things that are important to you, the information on this board can sure help you do those things more efficiently.

I am so sorry about your DH.

I'm not sure I would go to the PFF before your Princess meal. There just might not really be a point. We're doing a Princess breakfast in order to *avoid* standing in that line again. :rotfl:

By the way, we'll be at HoJo from the 25th through the 29th. Maybe Lorealle can make sure all the Dis'ers there at the same time meet up. :) (hmm, maybe I should let her know that my reservation is that of a Dis member)

I think I read that the 29th and/or the 30th is a Grad Night, and I know that that changes hours at DL...I think. Hopefully someone can chime in with more on that if they know more than I do.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband.

It seems to me you have planned a wonderful and memorable trip. You have enough to keep you going, and I think the DTD day will be nice a relaxing.
I would second what Bumber said about not doing PFF and Ariel's on the same day. I have PFF planned for the first day for my niece and then Breakfast on the 3rd. But we are most looking forward to getting her hair done at PFF.

I hope you have a very nice time.

I completely agree that I would not stand in that line to meet princesses if you're doing a Princess meal. There's really no point in doing that. However, there are other things to do at the PFF, like watching the dancing or the storytime. Doing those before your meal would be just fine. That's what I did with DD last year. I told her we wouldn't be waiting in that line, we'd see the princesses another time, but we'd go to PFF and participate in the dancing and story time. It worked out well for us.

i don't think you are under planning you have an idea what days you'll be where and as long as you use some of the tips/secerts learned here you'll be fine.

It sounds good to me too ! I will be arriving at the HOJO the evning of the 4th , will just miss you !
Sorry about your loss, my one wish to DH is if I pass he is to take the boys to DL as soon as he can, we did that when my dad passed and it is a wonderful thing for the kids.

What....No spreadsheets??!!!'

No ... Where will you eat a snack on Wed. afternoon??!!! :scared1:

;) . :lmao:

It looks like a great plan. I like how you are splitting up the DLR park visits with the Seaworld & US visits. Also, I like that you're doing US on a Sat. which will avoid some weekday traffic.

But....have you bought the tickets yet? The only thing i would add is to get a hopper that allows you to go to the parks on Sunday (if you want to/have to). I mention this because:

- Sunday early mornings are usually empty.
- With a multi-day (5,6,7 day) pass, adding a day is a very small $ amount extra.
- In case you want (or need) to see a firework / parade event on Sunday evening....(in case of closure on Friday)....it would be nice to have.

- And it's 7pm on Sunday....you've finished dinner in DTD....you ask everyone "what should we do now?"....

.....Go back to the room? Shop another 3 hours? Walk up & down DTD for another 2 hours?......

.....or go into an empty DL & ride BTMRR & watch the fireworks?? :yay: :dance3:

Have a magical trip. :thumbsup2

I wouldn't call it underplanning - I think most of us here are super/over-planners. We're the type of people for whom the phrase "planning is half the fun" was developed. :)

I was planning on 5 day hopper...but after checking the prices I decided on 6 day park hopper from Getawaytoday.com. This had the 2 MM and if we do want to stop in on Sunday we can (just incase I don't manage to do the trifecta)...and it was only $5 more each!!!

Thank you all for you advice it is appreciated:worship: !!

While I agree I would not stand in line to see the princesses at PFF, I would still go to PFF! There are fun things to do there. The show is cute, the coloring and crown making are free, and story time is great!

I would make it a priority to see the parade, they are always so good. Also make each person make a "must do" ride list, and try them early on. It is heartbreaking to realise you missed something someone was really looking forward to.
