Last night DH and I went to the movies with another couple, and decided to see "Welcome to Mooseport" since I have a thing for Gene Hackman (don't ask). There are tons of teenagers milling around the theater as usual on a weekend night, lots of young college-age kids, too, on dates, etc. To my horror I remember thinking, 'I hope they aren't going to our movie!'
We walk into the theater, and NO ONE besides us is under 40. I look at Clint and say, "Yep. We've officially crossed over..." It was kind of sad...the end of an era, if you will. We had to fill out a survey afterward, and I realized that I can no longer check the 18-24 box, and had a clutch moment there, too...My friend looked at me, and said, "Honey, welcome to my box, at least you aren't in Clint's!"
So here's my question... If I'm supposed to be all excited about growing up and buying a house and paying bills and being a "big girl" why do I feel sad? Is it possible to have a mid-life crisis before 30? Did anyone else experience this feeling of unrest during the transition to college life of the party girl to working wife? Please don't flame me for being silly, this is bugging me right now.. I had nightmares last night!
P.S. The movie was great, and it was nice not to endure talkers and popcorn throwers.. However, the elderly gentleman besides Clint kept falling asleep and snoring and smacking his lips and belching...so I guess it's a trade-off!
