Am I the **ONLY** person who dislikes Yachtsman?

We went to the Yatchsman for dinner one year and I was underwhelmed. I am not a huge fan of steak, so this is probably why. Hubby and I were looking for a place for a good dinner without the kids. He was all about the steak. For me, the atmosphere is just as important as the food. It just did not do it for me. Am I the only one?

We ate there on New Year's Eve many years ago. The steaks were very good as was the entire meal overall. It was a bit stuffy and boring. We wanted to be on the boardwalk for the evening and probably should have celebrated in a more festive restaurant. We haven't felt the need to return.

Food is gonna be subjective.

There's a critically acclaimed restaurant near my apartment in Brooklyn. You need to make reservations months ahead of time. We finally scored a reservation and you know what? It didn't do it for us. We'd happily go to our local Italian restaurant on Long Island and eat like kings over paying $30 for half a plate of decent pasta.

We love Yachtsman and do it for NYE, but we're also big steak people. My mom, on the other hand, "deals" with it. She doesn't like steak, but she's a big fan of the HUGE chocolate cake they have.

Like the PP has said, your answers will vary. We've never eaten there, but would like too some day. With small kids, it just isn't reasonable right now to do.

Hopefully you will enjoy your meal!

We really like it there, but we are big steak eaters. My son and daughter aren't fond of steak. My son gets the lobster and my daughter usually gets soup and caesar salad. We do usually skip dessert there. I never found anything that was worth the calories. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it so much. Hopefully you had some other great meals!

You are not the only one. All four in my family dislike Yachtsman tremendously. We all love steaks, but the steaks we got were the worst we have ever had. Gristly, cooked wrong, the whole works. My older son still makes jokes about the dull knives they gave us to cut them. The theming was underwhelming. Service was horrible, too. After sending my steak back twice since it was the one that was cooked the worst, our server decided to make a point to deliberately treat us worse than all of her other customers. We were on the DxDDP, and I guess because they knew how horrible our food was, the manager gave us our two credits back. This was also the lowest tip I've left at Disney ever. We will never go back! If we want a good steak, we will meander on over to Shula's. That place is awesome!

Well everytime we do the deluxe plan I will admit I insist on Yachtsman but I do have a good excuse I love steak. If you are not a steak person I could see how might be underimpressed.

Our first meal there in 2011 was amazing. Our second meal there in 2015 was good, but not quite as amazing. The atmosphere was great both times, but the food wasn't quite as good the second time.

I'd eat there again if I was staying at an Epcot-area resort, but wouldn't make a special trip just to eat there.

I enjoyed the food and the service a lot, but I was surprised by the atmosphere. It was much more casual and loud than I expected. It was on a Saturday in October so the resort and restaurant were packed. For $50+ steak I'd prefer it not be so rowdy.

That must be the true determinating factor, you must be an absolute lover of steak! I enjoy steak but when thinking of eating out, it’s not the 1st, 2nd, or .. you get the picture. So though I’ve enjoyed every noisy meal I’ve had over the years at Yachtman, we eat there seldomly. I feel the same way about Shulas, but at least Yachtman gives you sides, you don’t have to order them separately.

We've just been there once - last November, and had a TERRIBLE dinner. DH and I both had the filet and they were over cooked and tough. I sent mine back and the new one that came out really wasn't much better.

I was so disappointed because we really love steak and were really looking forward to trying Yachtsman.

Love a good slab of beef, and YS certainly delivers that. However, the restaurant is never at top of our to-do list because as good the steaks are, I can get equal quality or better for less somewhere else -the Disney premium at work. Sometimes, that premium offers you a unique experience. At YS, the ambiance and decor are rather boring, it can be quite loud at times, the menu is sort of unimaginative, and everything other than the steaks is just ok. We've had great service in the past despite more than a few reports of poor service from others. I don't at all dislike YS and we probably will return, but IMO, it doesn't live up to the hype. Just did Sanaa last week and I would choose that TS over the signature YS 9 times out of 10, for example.

I have only eaten there once and It was 2014 I remember very little about it, absolutely nothing seems to stand out to me. I booked Le Cellier but was wondering about switching it to Yachtman but DH said no he wasnt impressed he wants LC..

This is one place I have always wanted to try, but we haven't yet. We have three kids and it just doesn't seem reasonable to us either.

I haven't eaten there yet but have an ADR for 2 kids (9 and 12.5) and 2 adults in the next week or so. I saw the type of decor by looking at youtube vids and decided that it appeared similar enough to New England places of a certain age that I'd ignore the looks and concentrate on the food, LOL.
The reviews I've read were reasonable enough for me to book it over our current fav steakhouse @ WDW, the Boathouse.

I don't hate it, but it's also not my favorite. I find the restaurant to be a bit boring and sterile for a WDW restaurant, the food is super expensive, and it's not all that great. If were going for steak, I would go to Shula's for about the same price.

Ate there last week for the first time. I was blown away by the service - Benjamin was our waiter - he was the best I have ever had, anywhere!

We got the bone marrow/escargot and shrimp cocktail appetizers. Amazing.

Bread/butter/garlic service - amazing.

DH and I split the porterhouse, creamed spinach, and cow fat potatoes. Everything tasted exceptional. We ordered it medium rare and it came out blue. I ate the edges and gave the rest to my husband.

DS1 had the lobster and risotto, which he devoured.

DS2 had the strip and potato gratin. The steak was very tough, but he loved it.

And then, dessert - it was my son's birthday so I had said "order anything..don't look at prices". He ordered the Lexington sundae. Other son ordered the lime semifreddo.

It was a very relaxing, tasty, expensive meal.

I would totally go back, but I will try other places first, before..

Thank you for that up to date review. I'll make sure the man reads it before we go:).

It sounds like both of your steaks were bad. One underdone and one tough :(. Seems sad for $170 worth of beef.
