write checks when they shop. I got some last minute back to school clothes on my lunch today, and every store I went to I had to wait while the person in front of me had to drag out their check book, look for a pen, write the check, do the math put the checkbook away and then look for their keys. Ahhhhh at least have your checkbook out when you get to the register and write your check while they are ringing up your order and step aside to do the math and look for your keys. Or better yet get a debit card!!!

I prefer to write checks. I always seem to misplace my debit card receipts.

I do always try to have my check filled out as much as possible when I am waiting for my stuff to be rung up. And I don't do calculations in the store. With a 2 year old I like to get in and get out! :D

This is such a pet peeve of mine. I always see people wait till all of their items are rung up, THEN reach into their wallets and start writing out the entire check... ... grrrrrrr.... I'm sorry but it's soooo inconsiderate!

No, you're not. I actually don't write checks unless I have to. I actually pay as many bills as I can with my credit card to get those reward point!!!! I always pay the bill in full when it comes in, so it's like a debit card. I actually don't even carry my checkbook with me, it's always home!!!!

I've been writing more checks since my bank started charging 50 cents every time I use my debit card to shop when I use my PIN. I could use it as a VISA, but then you have to sign and that takes more time *mere seconds really) than the debit. I love the convenience of the card transaction, I just wish they would stop charging extra for it. It's electronic, how can it cost more to process than a paper check?

I write my checks while the clerk is completing the order, usually all I need to do when they;re done is write in the amount. As they finish the transaction I write the amount in the register and do the math later. My keys are usually in my hand while I'm checking out ,especially at the grocery store since my BonusCard is attached to them.

I never pay for food with checks, usually with my debit card that I swipe while the cashier is checking out my food. In fact, I don't even pay bills with checks, I do it all online. The only checks I ever write are personal ones, like for birthdays, weddings, etc...

I very rarely write a check. Usually for school fundraisers and things like that. We charge everything possible on our credit card to get the airline miles, then pay it off every month. So far we've racked up over 200,000 miles!

I NEVER write checks except to pay bills (and even many of those I pay online).

I agree with you all, waiting for someone to manually write out a check is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. ;) Just swipe the debit card, put the receipt in your checkbook to record (I keep my ATM card IN my checkbook cover so it's easy to remember to put receipts there) and you're DONE. :)

I write checks :)
But not as many as I used to now I have the Disney credit card.......but I have it filled out ahead of time except the amount.

The only checks I ever write are to the mortgage co. and stuff like the PTA.;) I use my debit card for almost everything!

I agree...If you are going to write a check have the date, Payee, signture portions already filled out....Fill in the amount and if you must write it in your register do so and do the math later.....BIG PET PEEVE of mine....

I hate shopping with checks because it seems these days you have to watch every item to see that it rings up correctly! I use the CC so I can catch the mistakes before they happen. :)

We have 400 checks that will last us the rest of our lives. The only time we write a check is for rent and the occasional pizze.

How does using a credit card vs. writing a check help you catch mistakes before they happen as items are being rung up?

No check writing here either. Gotta rack up those Disney Reward dollars before next month's trip! :p

Checks???? We charge EVERYTHING on our Freq. Flyer Amex and Visa cards. We carry no balances; we NEVER make a purchase unless we know that we'll be able to pay the statement in full :D .....
