That's right, it's up, and decorated! :D

This past Sat. and Sun. evening one of the garden centres we patronize had their 4th annual Christmas Open House. It's free, they have wine and cheese, decorating demonstrations, draw prizes, and the entire garden centre is transformed into a Christmas wonderland.

I posted about last year's event (with pics), and mentioned that we didn't buy a thing. Here's the link to last year's thread, if you'd like to review it.

~Christmas Open House - 2003~

This year was a bit different! :teeth:

The place looked beautiful, and they had way more trees than last year, up and decorated. Oodles and oodles of things to buy! ::yes:: I was very co-operative! ;)

I bought a new slim style, pre-lit tree for the livingroom (and lots of other stuff!). Of course, my curiousity got the better of me, and I had to put it up when we got home. So, it's done! :)

We will still get a real tree for the family room, but I think I'll wait a month. ;) :)

Anyone else have their Christmas tree up? :)

No? :o :sunny:

Not yet but I'm definitely getting into the Christmas spirit already. My MIL used to have a fake tree in the family room decorated with white lights and red/gold trimmings, and a real tree in the living room decorated with colored lights and misc. trimmings collected through the years. I hope to have 2 trees someday.

I am so jealous - for more than one reason!

First, I miss garden centers! :( Before moving here, I worked at one. We had the most beautiful Christmas stuff. I can't even find a garden center anywhere in Central Florida.

Second, I want my Christmas tree! It was left behind in Michigan because it would not fit on the truck to come down. We have tons of stuff still up there and the people who 'promised' to bring it all down by the end of September seem to have forgotten about coming. We do have all the stuff that is here out. We did by a bunch of stuff for outside, so at least that looks really good.

My tree is not up but I am buying some new things for the new room. I'll be going with a theme and i am very excited to start but not until after Thanksgiving.

How about a picture of yoru tree to get us in the mood?

I have to say Kim, that since coming back from Disney this week and seeing some of the resorts already decorated for Christmas, I AM tempted to bring up my tree. It's already decorated and sits, covered, down in the basement, so it would only take a few minutes to set up. I have some new Mickey ornaments that I am looking forward to adding, too.

I think, though, that I will probably wait another couple of weeks at least. To me, it's also a sign of winter, which I am trying to avoid thinking of, even though I know it's inevitable.

Did you take any pictures this year? You will have to tell me where that garden centre is, maybe DH and I can take a drive over sometime. Or...is there a nice place for lunch nearby? ;)

Sorcerormickey, I'm sorry your tree has yet to arrive in Florida. I know I'd be tempted to go and buy a new one. I tend to get impatient waiting...:o :D

Are you going to tell us what your "theme' will be, Vanessa? :D

Mary, my living room tree is the formal tree, cream, gold, and sort of seafoam- green decorations. The family room 'real' tree is always much more casual. :)

Julie, I remember you telling me that your tree is basically ready, just in storage for now. I'm hoping we can do the same thing with the new one, since it's a slim-line tree. We'll see! :) Go for it, put it up!! :sunny:

Julie, we had to have a nice dinner after all that shopping! ;) :D

Yes, I did take pictures, but, with the new computer we also have a new Photoshop program. It's not even the super special edition, but I'm having a terrible time figuring it out. I feel like I'm trying to read hieroglyphics!! Maybe I'll understand it by Easter....:o :D

I think this weekend I'll put up the little 3' tree I have for this room, my 'office'. ;) :D

Trust me, I thought about it! LOL! But, my tree is only 2 years old and I love it. It is a very fat tree - you hardly see anything like it in stores. I've just resigned myself to the fact that we won't have a tree this year (and maybe next year, and the year after that....LOL)

No tree yet, day after Thanksgiving.

No tree yet here. Haven't even thought about it yet. DS is coming home from college next weekend for TG. Maybe after the bird.

We want pics::yes:: of your new tree. Sounds beautiful

No tree here yet. We're planning to put it up the Sunday after Thanksgiving!

I am listening to the Candlelight Processional music, so I'm getting my Christmas fix that way!

Bobbi:D

Hi Bobbi!! How was the cruise???? :D

I've been listening to my Christmas music for a couple of weeks now. As far as shopping goes though, I've only bought gifts for myself! :o :D

Deb, I don't know when (or if) I'll ever figure out my new Photoshop program. Like I mentioned above, maybe by Easter! :o :D

Kim, that's too bad...it means you'll have to leave your tree up till Easter. :teeth:

You really jumped the gun on the Christmas tree thing this year, Snowwark! LOL!

As I said in a previous post, I finally broke down and last year bought a fake tree with the lights already on it. It is also a "slim" tree but it is 7 feet tall.

I am thinking about putting it up the first weekend in December.

I am also thinking of getting a Norfolk Pine Tree to appease my son who was just totally mortified that I actually bought a fake tree. "MOM!!! How COULD you???!!!" I was really impressed on how upset he was with me.

Hi all, I just re-read the thread, and it goes to show you how much I know, we put our tree up yesterday and decorated it, and as we came down for breakfast this morning, in the gloom of Ohios early mornings, it was sparkling! DH had a great idea.

I think that being at the WL last weekend inspired us to get it done yesterday.

Our DCL cruise to celebrate Tom's 60th was wonderful. My DSister ordered a gift surprise package for Tom that he received on the cruise, and I ordered a Romance Package;) that was delivered at our villa last Sunday.

Both surprises were the results of nice people on the Disboards helping us out. One cruiser bought and shipped special Disney Cruise items to my sister so the basket could include a DCL shirt and hat just for Tom.

Also, from the card exchange on this board last year, I have items that I put on the tree, DH asked where one or the other came from, and I told him about the nice people here.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I know it's celebrated at different time in different places but right now, I'm thankful for my disfriends and want to be sure you all know that!

Bobbi:flower1:

PS. Tulirose, I gave friends a Norfolk Island Pine 15 years ago, it's taking over their living room. You're going to have another "Feed me, Feed me!" plant, like Mamu's!

Tulirose, is your new tree going up in your 'new' livingroom? ;) :D

Bobbi, it sounds like you had a fantastic trip!! :sunny: How nice that DISers helped out your sister, to surprise Tom!!! ::yes:: :D

A Romance Package also, eh? ;) Nice.....:teeth:

You know, I was going to do the Christmas Card exchange again, but there are so few of us around these days I didn't. Maybe I still should?

As someone who has had final exams to correct and grades to compute in the days before Christmas, I will never knowingly make work for people at this time of the year, so whatever you decide about the Christmas card exchange, I support wholeheartedly, Kim. It's fun, and so is talking to people right here.

Yes, I used to teach at a college with semesters that ended around Dec. 18th and grades were due by the 23rd. I never ever felt like I could get ready for Christmas until the grades were done. Now, our quarters end and grades are due by the 13th, life is easier now!

The F/G board had a Christmas card exchange last year?? I musta missed it....:confused3

Snowwark - Yep, the tree will go in our NEW living room in a NEW spot. Trees ALWAYS went in front of the window but we put the NEW sofa there now. ::yes::

Bobbiwoz - Aren't Disney cruises the best!!?

Bobbi, that must of been a high stress time for you! For some reason though, I imagine you handled it all brilliantly! :)

Yes Tulirose, we had a Christmas card exchange last year, all 4 of us..lol. :teeth: :)

Where the heck were you????

You know, I'm going to bump up last year's thread. ::yes:: You never know, maybe more Buds will join us! :sunny:
