Am I the only one who finds it 'surreal'?

Let me put it this way:

I started in January with 11 months left until my trip. My countdown bar was long and the fish was alllll the way at the left when i wanted it all the way to the right.

I would see people with their countdown timers saying "1 month" or "18 days" and the like and I would think "geez i hope they know how lucky they are!

And now suddenly I am one of those people, with only 22 days left until our big trip. Surreal!

Only 22 days until my kids first airplane ride!

...until my mum gets to share the magic with the next generation in our family

...until my tough guy brother gets to go back to the world (hasn't been in i think 20 years) and who said "thanks mom, I never thought I would ever get back to Disney

...until i cry (inevitable) tears of happiness when my kids first experience the characters, again and again and again

...until I surprise my mum with a cake at 1900 park fare for her birthday (this is her birthday trip, her birthday was in may (it was a 'big ' one) and we were not allowed to celebrate it then)

...until i enter a world that will take me away from the daily struggles in my own world, until i can escape my horrible year as an adult (2 deaths in family in past 3 months, my husband walked out on me and the kids, etc) and be a kid again

Surreal!

yet oh so wonderful! :lovestruc

Awwwww. Your post just make me all teary. You're going ot have such an amazing trip! I'm one of those people looking at your ticker and dreaming of when I can go. This trip is a big one for me too. My son, age four, is going for the first time, as well as my husband. I lost my dad this year quite suddenly so it's been a horrible year for us too. Disney was one of his favorite vacations we went on so I know he'll be there with us.

You are going to have such a wonderful time! It seems like you are already prepared to stop and "feel the magic"! You deserve it!

:grouphug: Enjoy your trip.. sounds like you are going to make plenty of new good memories to keep with you :thumbsup2

You are going with a fantastic attitude!

So many go with the frame of mind - I am spending all this money what are they going to do for me?

Instead you already know the true magic of Disney - reconnecting with your family - enjoying that total escape from reality - seeing the joy and magic in the eyes of the children - making someone else feel important.

I hope you have an amazing time, and please let us know how it went when you get back. :goodvibes

Have a wonderful trip! You are so right! WDW does make you forget all your troubles for atleast a little while :goodvibes

I can totally relate! I had the same thing happen with my Husband and I had to cancel our 7 night DCL cruise... :sad2: I still ended up going on the 4 night with my Aunt and Uncle and my DD and I had a really wonderful time!! We needed that trip so bad! :goodvibes

Since that time things have turned around and my DD and I have been back to WDW or on the cruise every year since.... Hubby and I have even managed to get our life back together. Life was not so great away from us!

I love reading the live reports and seeing how excited people are that are leaving TOMORROW!!!

My countdown is getting closer to the time we go and I can not wait... DH and I are taking DD back at Christmas time!! She has not been back to MVMCP since she was 3!

Enjoy your trip!

A little bit goofy, we will be there the same time! I hope you have a wonderful trip, you certainly deserve it! You will be fine, you have a great attitude!

You made me CRY!!!!! You are going to have a WONDERFUL time!!! I understand the "surreal-ness" of it all--I started counting down to my vacation at 349 days (right after we came back from our LAST vacation!) 6 months has already passed with only 6 to go!!! I'll get to make my ADR in a week!!! So I completely understand.

I coudn't have said it better. You have a wonderful way with words. I love to escape the "real" world as well. My disney vacation is the one and only time I can just have fun and relax!!

Enjoy your trip.

:goodvibes

I know how you feel - we have been planning for a year. It is coming so quick now. I am checking off my lists.

By this time next month, it will be all over :(

Have fun while you are there. Have a great sleigh ride! ;)

I know exactly what you mean! I started my countdown in July (not as long of a wait as yours but long enough!) and I have 21 days until our trip! I remember when I was younger my cousins went on a huge trip to WDW with their grandfather and I was soo jealous. I kept thinking that I would never get to go and it took until I was 18 years old but my first trip was amazing. And now that I'm going back for my 5th time...it really is surreal!

I know what you mean....it has been 11 months for us too and I can hardly wait....so close now.

Have a great time and don't forget to give us a Trip Report when you return! :Pinkbounc

Ok it has been 1 year since our last trip and I have been having Disney withdrawl ever since we returned from the last trip.... I am soooooo ready to GO!!!!!

20 days on this end!

I have had my ticker going since we officially booked, last April. We've had this planned in our heads, my DH and I, since we were there last on our honeymoon!

I got teary reading your post, too. I don't know if I will make it through telling the kids, that morning at 5am, where they are going! I sob just thinking about it.

I can't wait to see my DD7's face when she sees Cinderella's castle for the first time or Cinderella! She is going to be soooo happy. I try to imagine what her response will really be. Just today, they were saying in the car, how they wished we could go... that it take so long to save... THEY HAVE NO CLUE!

You've made the long haul now, just sit back and enjoy the anticipation!

Got Disney Dollars at the Disney Store yesterday, BTW... the CM probably though I was nuts when I cried when I smelled them! LOL

Be sure to wear your LGMH's... I'll have mine hanging from my pink Bagallini bag... I'll be looking for you all!

My Mum is so excited! I had so badly wanted to book it as a 'thank you' for the trip, because of you I could! :wizard:

We get there a few days after you; I'll be on the lookout for ya! Have a GREAT time!!

I hope you have a great trip it sounds like you really deserve it after a rough year. I know what your saying about it being surreal I started planning a year out and now I'm on 13 days. Now I feel like time is flying and I have so much to do before we go.

I am right there with you. It is a whole other world and you are submersed in the feeling the entire time. I am starting to get that "is this really happening" feeling as well. I am already planning our 2008 trip because I know I will be sad when we get home. :guilty: Enjoy your trip! I know we will  :thumbsup2
