Am I the only one who finds it 'surreal'?

I am right there with you. It is a whole other world and you are submersed in the feeling the entire time. I am starting to get that "is this really happening" feeling as well. I am already planning our 2008 trip because I know I will be sad when we get home. :guilty: Enjoy your trip! I know we will  :thumbsup2

Let me put it this way:

I started in January with 11 months left until my trip. My countdown bar was long and the fish was alllll the way at the left when i wanted it all the way to the right.

I would see people with their countdown timers saying "1 month" or "18 days" and the like and I would think "geez i hope they know how lucky they are!

And now suddenly I am one of those people, with only 22 days left until our big trip. Surreal!

Only 22 days until my kids first airplane ride!

...until my mum gets to share the magic with the next generation in our family

...until my tough guy brother gets to go back to the world (hasn't been in i think 20 years) and who said "thanks mom, I never thought I would ever get back to Disney

...until i cry (inevitable) tears of happiness when my kids first experience the characters, again and again and again

...until I surprise my mum with a cake at 1900 park fare for her birthday (this is her birthday trip, her birthday was in may (it was a 'big ' one) and we were not allowed to celebrate it then)

...until i enter a world that will take me away from the daily struggles in my own world, until i can escape my horrible year as an adult (2 deaths in family in past 3 months, my husband walked out on me and the kids, etc) and be a kid again

Surreal!

yet oh so wonderful! :lovestruc

Loved your post, it said everything we've always felt when we visit WDW. My kids are now grown DS19 and DD22 and they still love to go to WDW with us. We were there in August (the whole family) and will be there again in January (our first adult only trip in 22 years). Only 71 days until our Jan. trip.

One day we'll take our grandchildren with us to WDW and we'll get to experience all of those feelings again.

ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!!!!!!

We will be thee around the same time as you. My inlaws, parents and siblings will make up the 14 adults and 4 kids going on our trip. No one in my family has ever been on a cruise and I just cannot wait to see everyone's faces when we set sail. I have been researching and planning this trip for over 18 months- I can finally say we leave for our big family trip next month!!!

I know what you mean! Seems like just a few days ago I was excited because we were under 100 days...now we are only a mere 7 days away! :woohoo:

yeah, sure is fun watching the numbers go down. Can't wait until we are in the double digit ones. No more months just days. :cloud9:

I feel the same way! I thought my trip would never get here! I also started planning last January and it is hard to believe that it is only 4 weeks left until we go!

From one who still has a long time to go on her ticker, have a magical trip!!!

Same here! I leave a week from Tuesday......it will take 2 days to drive it, and pick up the other half of our party.....I have been so excited, but the closer it gets, I am just like, "eh, yeah, we are going to WDW" I don't know what is wrong with me!

I'm like this. When I started my countdown, it was more than 400 days. Now I have less than 2 weeks and I am beside myself.

I got all teary reading your post - I hope you have a fantastic time at WDW. I know how you felt about the countdown though, I have 9 months to go!

You're going to have a wonderful trip making memories to last a lifetime with your family! Thanks for the day brightner.

I know exactly how you feel. You put it in words so nicely. I only have 18 days left til my trip and have been planning since february. Actually since I was pregnant with my son, I said I would take him for his 5th birthday, and here it comes. I can't wait to see him meet the characters. He's loving Pluto lately and constantly is walking on all fours being Pluto, and I have to be Mickey and make him fetch. We are having his birthday at CP, and I am so excited. He's pretty excited too. I fill up reading these boards, I don't know what I'll be like when I get there. And I can't wait to just get away from all the stress and worry here, and just go.

Have a wonderful, magical, dreams come true vacation!! :cloud9:

I think we all know that "Disney butterflies in your stomach :butterfly feeling" and OP you are going to have such a magical time. It amazes me that just thinking about disney can bring tears to my eyes. :cloud9: Walt had such an incredible dream. :goodvibes

I know what you mean Goofy - we've actually been planning on this years trip since our honeymoon 10 years ago. Can't believe that the 10 years seemed to go by so fast.
We started our official planning last year August, so it's been a long time coming and we're finally at 20 days... :woohoo:
I can't believe it's right around the corner...hopefully we'll see you around the park...I'll have my LGMH's.

Enjoy your trip, may you have a fantasmic trip :smickey:

I am so right there with you!

We booked in Feb for our Dec trip. 302 days. Wow, that seemed long. Now we are at 34!

It is a suprise trip for our kids. Their first time to WDW, their first plane ride. They have wanted to go forever. FINALLY we are going!!!!!

We are telling them the night before, they will flip! We have a limo picking us up in the morning to take us to the airport, they have never been in one of those either. This is going to be a big week of firsts for them!

Anyway, I can't wait. I can't wait to see them see it all. It gives me goose bumps just thinking about it!

Allyson

I hope your trip is everything you've been wishing it would be and MORE !!

Enjoy your time with your family. It's priceless.
