Am I the only crazy person out there who would hold a door for someone?

------------------

We were shoe shopping today, and even though I CAN walk on crutches/1 crutch long distances are still hard on crutches. Much less in crowds.
So anyway my mom is pushing me and opens the door to push me out.
There were 4 employees literally 3 feet away from the door, they all saw me because I wheeled around them a couple times, yet still stood there.
Carrying on their converstaion, ignoring me, pretending we didn't need help.
Thankfully another customer helped hold the door open so I could be wheeled out. This also happened while my mom was trying to wheel me into the store.
So am I the only one out there who would hold a door for a wheelchair/person who's shortly behind me/whatever your reasoning may be?

i sorta half hold open the door. i go through the door and if theres people following, i hand it off.

I hold the door for people. And if I'm already inside,I will hold open the door until someone else can grab onto it.

i'll open the door, enter, look behind me if there's anyone coming and if there is, i'll just throw the door open to let them grab it and enter, if that makes sense...

I always hold the door for people. I dislike when people don't say thank you though.

Yeh i tend to hand it off as well, either by throwing it open so the person behind me can grab it or by holding it behind me until they grab it.
However if there was someone behind me in a wheelchair, on crutches or struggling in anyway i tend to actually hold the door for them because well that's only polite.

I always hold the door for other people, especially disabled people (when there is no automatic door) and pregnant ladies, and people with strollers. I don't like when people don't say thank you. If I'm already inside I'll hold the door with one hand until someone else grabs it

Okay, that's messed up. Yeah, I try to hold the door open whenever possible for anyone, that's just common courtesy, but especially when it's somebody who obviously needs help with the door- someone loaded down with bags, elderly, or otherwise handicapped. It doesn't take more than a second, so why not?

Dang, that just ticks me off that they wouldn't help you.

I'll wait for the person to go through the door, unless it's a crowd of people that are leaving, I'll let the next person hold it after holding it half-way.

Yes, I always hold doors open for people, or at least hand it off... But if you were in a wheelchair or looked injured or old, I'd definitly hold the door for you. One time I held open a door for like 5 minutes straight at a restaurant, because I think an old person's home had just finished eating there. They all said thank you and looked very happy.

And I always say thank you when someone holds the door open for me.

Sometimes, I just open the doors for fun. lol. I love helping people.

So, yeah. I normally hold doors open. Or I at least do the thing everyone else has been describing too where you hold it until someone else grabs it.

I always hold the door open for people. Sometimes even if they're like, far behind me and I'm just standing there holding a door for forever!

But there are a lot of people in my school, mostly boys (which kills me...aren't they supposed to hold the doors open for girls?) who let them slam in your face. This one guy is in all my classes, and he always leaves before me, so as I'm coming up behind him, waiting for that door to stay open...it comes flying back at me! Jeez.

I always hold the door for people. Its just something I was taught to do. Actually I went out to eat with my friends last night and before I could even get one hand out to catch the door one of my friends let it SLAM on me.

Seriously though its just a nice habbit to get into. Especially if someone is on a wheelchair/elderly ect...

I always hold the door for people or try to "hand it off".
I get upset when the person doesn't say thank you or if there on the phone and just walk by like the door is open by itself OR better yet when 219480921840 people go by the door and no one holds on to it. :/

Okay,thanks for clarifying that guys.
Also,I do what everyone else says they do.
Well, when I can walk,I open the door,go through, and hold it till the next person comes through or pass it to the next person.
But I was always taught to hold the door if someone needs help.

And don't worry,I always say thank you.
A couple days ago when someone held the door for me at another place I said thank you multiple times.

Same.

I hold doors for everyone. When I was in the hospital in a wheelchair, we wanted to go into the elevator and we asked a woman to hold the door to it for us. THe foot of the wheelchair had been in the elevator and the woman hit the close the door button on me and gave me a dirty look. Sometimes people really get to me.
